OUTLINE
1. Asking students what kind of legends they are familiar with (5 min)
2. What is a legend? Explaining to students some features of a legend and
asking how they are different from explicatif textes (6 min)

3. Students are asked to look at the images, titles, intertitres and are to
comment on them (2 min) Questions are asked regarding the first
legend (4 min) :
- Pourquoi voudrait-on capter le Soleil?
- Quel phnomne cette lgende veut-elle expliquer?
4. Audio file is played for students and they are asked to read along (11 min)
5. Following the audio files, the text will be analyzed as a class and questions
are asked. Vocabulary will be explained in order to increase comprehension
(14 min)
- Quavez-vous remarqu sur la faon de raconter une lgende?
- Quavez-vous aim le plus? Le moins?
- Quavez-vous remarqu lors de la deuxime lecture de la lgende?
6. Students are asked to get in groups and to tell each other legends,
explaining a specific phenomenon. One person is speaking at a time. The
goal is to have everyone add details to the story, as they move along in the
circle. Examples can be made of other legends and their features (on the
sea, in the jungle, wearwolves etc.) The responses are then shared with the
class (5 min)
7. Students are informed that during their next lesson they will be doing the
book talk
1. MENTAL SET (HOOK)
Asking students what they thought of the video that they watched during their
last class. They will then be asked to think of legends and what kind of legends
they are familiar with. Students will have the opportunity to share their
knowledge.
2. OBJECTIVES & PURPOSE
Students will improve on their ability to read with precision and fluidity. They will
be able to summarize the text, using newly acquired vocabulary.
3. INPUT (INFORMATION)

4. MODELING (FINISHED PRODUCT)
Students will be guided during the process, and the teacher will be an active part
of the creation of the classs legend, making sure that the appropriate format is
used.
5. CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING
Questions checking for the students comprehension will be asked to assure that
all students follow the lesson.
6. INDEPENDENT PRACTICE
Students will be asked to follow the audio file along by reading it independently.
7. CLOSURE
Students will create their own legend, using their newly acquired knowledge of
this literary device. They will also be made aware of the book talk that they will be
giving during the following lesson.
