Attention Teachers Who Teach 9th and 10th Graders during Third Hour:
On Wednesday, October 1, beginning at 9:25 a.m. (third hour), we will be implementing a state-mandated
Bus Safety Drill. All of our 9th and 10th grade students are required by state law and school district policy to
participate in this exercise. School buses will be available for the drill in front of the school. Students should
be escorted out of our main front entrance doors at the time indicated on this schedule. There are only three
things that each teacher needs to do:
1. In the classroom, before going outside, introduce the Bus Safety Evacuation Activity verbally to the
students and instruct them on the importance of appropriate behavior while we are conducting the drill.

Leave your classroom area in order to report on time as indicated on the schedule. Escort the students
outside to the buses, look for me to direct you to a specific bus, physically get on the bus with the
students, listen to the drivers brief presentation and then be ready to meet the students as they evacuate
the bus.

3. You are required to be with your students at all times unless you have a class with only some 9th or
10th grade students. If you only have a few students and cannot leave the class, try to coordinate with
another colleague listed in your time slot; perhaps a colleague could cover your class for a few
moments while you escort the combined group of students down.
Finally, please bring any specific concerns or errors to my personal attention and I will address them.
This effort is going to take the teamwork of everyone listed.
