BAHULLH
El mes de ALA comienza hoy a la puesta del sol. Es el mes de El Ayuno Bah'. Todos los Bah's
de 15 aos o ms observan el Ayuno abstenindose de tomar alimentos lquidos o slidos, desde la salida
hasta la puesta del sol. El Ayuno no es obligatorio para los nios, los invlidos, los viajeros, los muy
ancianos o muy dbiles, mujeres encinta o que tienen nios de pecho.
En casi todas las religiones del mundo suele recalcarse la importancia del ayuno como medio de
purificacin. As, cada ao y por un perodo de 28 das consecutivos los musulmanes suelen abstenerse de
beber y comer desde el alba hasta la puesta del sol. Cristo se refiere a la importancia del ayuno en los
captulos sexto y noveno del Evangelio de Mateo.
Bah'u'llh llama a los Bahs a que se abstengan de beber y comer, desde el alba hasta el ocaso, por
un perodo de 19 das consecutivos que va del 2 hasta el 20 de marzo. Se considera que este perodo,
conocido simplemente como el Ayuno, constituye una poca propicia para someter a examen el propio
desarrollo espiritual. Se hacen esfuerzos para desasirse de los deseos materiales. Los Bahs se levantan
antes del alba para desayunar y orar.

Cualquier deber que has prescrito a Tus siervos, No es sino una seal de Tu gracia para con ellos, a fin
de que sean capacitados para ascender a la estacin que les ha sido conferida en lo ms ntimo de su
ser: la estacin del conocimiento de sus almas.
Bah'u'Ilh
El Ayuno es un smbolo. Ayuno significa abstenerse de toda sensualidad. El Ayuno fsico es un
smbolo de esa abstinencia y un recordatorio; es decir, que as como una persona se abstiene de
apetitos fsicos, debe tambin abstenerse de apetitos y deseos personales. Es solo un smbolo, un
recordatorio. De otra forma no tiene importancia. Ayunar con este objeto no quiere decir privarse
completamente de la comida. La regla de oro en cuanto al alimento es no comer demasiado ni comer
muy poco. La moderacin es necesaria.

La Asamblea Espiritual Local de los Bah's de

Sonsonate decidi participar en la IV Feria de
Artesana y Libros de 25 de enero al 2 de febrero
durante los Das Patronales de la ciudad y pidi la
colaboracin del Comit de Distribucin de Libros. El
puesto se identificaba visiblemente con la Fe Bah'
y especificaba la Editorial de la que provenan los
libros. Con mas de ochenta ttulos mostrando una
variedad de temas. Adems seis biombos acerca de:
Que es La Fe Bah?, Templos Bahs, Casa de
Adoracin y La Religin es Una (Revelacin
Progresiva). Folletos a colores, rtulos y volantes
indicando el horario y local de las reuniones para
jvenes y l publico en general. El numero de personas
visitando el stand Bah fue de casi mil seiscientos
personas durante todo el evento.

CONFERENCE 2003
16 - 18 May 2003
At the outset of the 5 Year Plan, the Universal House
of Justice called for the division of national
communities into a network of clusters in order to
make it possible to focus attention on smaller
geographic areas in the launching of intensive
programs of growth. Such programs are intended to
ensure that the Revelation of Bahullh reaches the
masses of humanity and enables them to achieve

spiritual and material progress through the application

of the teachings.
As the Bah World Community forges along the midpoint of the 5 Year Plan in response to these
instructions, Bah individuals, institutions, and
communities alike, have gained a wealth of experience
as to the spiritual and material dynamics of sustainable
growth.
In light of such momentous developments, the purpose
of the upcoming Montreal Bah Youth Conference,
entitled Glimpses of the Global Village: the Pressing
Need for Local Action-A spiritual Approach, will be
to enable Bah youth to grasp the spiritual nature of
the forces propelling the Major Plan of God while
channelling those same forces towards the
spiritualization and development of their local
communities.
The youth conference will be held at the Centre Bah
Louis-Bourgeois, in Montreal, Quebec, from 16 to 18

JVENES BAHAIS EN LA CNN
CON ORACIONES POR LOS ASTRONAUTAS
La prestigiosa cadena CNN ha insertado en la portada
de su pgina web del da 3 de febrero, la foto de unos
jvenes en el Centro Bah de Los ngeles, orando
por los
astronautas que murieron a bordo del
Columbia.
En esta pgina comentan el trgico desenlace y dan
informacin de los innumerables actos y reuniones de
oracin celebrados por todo el pas en las iglesias y
centros de todas las religiones. De entre los centenares
de fotografas de estos actos, han elegido publicar la
foto de los jvenes bahs.
En la misma lnea, el Canal 4 de la televisin NBC del
Sur de California coment:
En el Centro bah de Los ngeles, el acto
conmemorativo se caracteriz por una gran tristeza,
pero con mucha esperanza. Unos 300 creyentes
bahs conmemoraron el valor de los astronautas y se
propusieron ayudar a confortar y ofrecer esperanza a
sus familiares y a su propia comunidad.
"Estamos aqu para honrar la memoria de los que han
desaparecido y recordar a sus queridas familias que
atraviesan una situacin tan dolorosa coment Jamie
Heath, un miembro de la comunidad bah que
present el acto.
Se leyeron textos del Corn, la Biblia, del budismo y
el hinduismo, mezclados con canciones y oraciones. La

FRANCES JONES EDELSTEIN winged her way to

the Abha Kingdom Saturday morning February 22,
2003 at the age of 92. Her funeral will be February 25,
3:00 pm Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford Oregon.
She became a Baha'i in 1939 in New York City and
spent the rest of her life in service to her beloved faith.
She served in many capacities to the Faith she loved.
She was frequently elected Secretary to the various
Assemblies she served and also acted as Secretary at
the New York Baha'i Center and at Green Acre Baha'i
School at various times. She was a homefront pioneer
to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she assisted in
forming their first Assembly. On her Pilgrimage to
Haifa in 1952 the Guardian requested that she pioneer
to the city of the Covenant Breakers, Famagusta,
Cypress which she did in 1953. Later she also was an
International pioneer to Switzerland.
Her last few years were spent in an Assisted Care
Facility in Medford, Oregon. Though she was
crippled of body and blind of eyes she taught her
beloved Faith to all who would listen. Even in
her last days when she was under hospice care
and her mind was befuddled she was still giving
the message of Baha'u'llah to her caregivers.

During the Bah month of Loftiness which begins March

2nd, Bahs 15 years of age and older fast from sunrise to
sunset for nineteen days. Exempted from the Fast are
children under 15, those who are ill, over 70, traveling,
pregnant or nursing women, women in their courses or those
doing heavy labor. The Fast ends at sunset March 20, NawRz (Bah New Year).
"These are the days of the Fast. Blessed is the one who
through the heat generated by the Fast increased his love,
and who, with joy and radiance, ariseth to perform worthy
deeds. Verily, He guideth whomsoever He willeth to the
straight path." (Bahullh, The Importance of Obligatory
Prayer and Fasting, by the Research Department of the
Universal House of Justice, p. 7)

great healing for the disease of self and passion."
