ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY:

1. In September, what did you know about
a. The First Nations of Canada?

I havent joined the class yet in September, however I have learned

quite a lot in this class. But what I knew prior to joining the class
was that they have totem poles.

b. The Age of Exploration, Imperialism, the Colonization of Canada, and why

Canada is bilingual?
Because there was a time, French was in power of Canada.

c. The relationship between the First Nations and the European colonists?

I think the First Nations were nice to the Europeans.

d. The relationship between citizens and their government?

They have rules to keep order. We dont break the rules. The government
protects us.

e. How the world evolved into the Modern Age?

History.

2. This year, what have you learned about

a. The First Nations of Canada?
I wasnt here for this section so I havent really learned anything. However
I do know that they were nice to the Europeans. Many Europeans also
married First Nations Woman to populate the population. They believed in
spirits and nature. The forests are their hunting grounds. Again, I wasnt

here for this specific topic, however I have learned bits and pieces of the
First Nations from other topics.

b. The colonization of North America?

Leaders wanted more power. They wanted more money. This is where
mercantilism comes in; the mother country supplies the colony money,
while the colony helps the mother country by only giving raw materials to
the mother country and not selling it to other people. For example, beaver
fur was popular at the time, and the mother country made a lot of money
by selling hats made of beaver fur.

c. The relationship between the First Nations and the Europeans?

The First Nations were nice and respected the Europeans. However many
Europeans looked down on them and believed they were superior. They
disrupted the First Nations by taking land of their hunting area, forcing
them to move.

d. Political Revolutions?
English Revolution, American Revolution, and French Revolutionetc.
People have a social contract with the government, promising protection
as long as you follow the given rules, however sometimes a social contract
can be broken when either side does something unacceptable. When
Social contacts are broken, people often protest and want to have
something done. Everyone has a breaking point.

e. The Industrial Revolution?

Mass production is introduced, producing goods and items at a faster

pace, which also lowered the price and made it so it was more affordable.
Resulting in Global Warming due to the pollution caused. Improved
farming, transportation and many people moved to cities.

3. What one thing did you find the most interesting in each unit?
a. Civilization of Early Modern Europe:
I was not here for this unit.

b. First Nation Civilizations:

I was not here for this unit.

c. The colonization of North America:

Mercantilism, supplying mother country with raw materials to make the
mother country richer and more powerful.

d. Political Revolutions:

I always thought Revolutions were always violent, little did I know it can
be really peaceful as well.

e. The Industrial Revolution:

Kids at a very young age were hired to work long shifts of hours with poor
working conditions and dangerous environments with low wages.

4. Compared to September, how has your understanding of our history and society
changed?
My knowledge of Canadian history has greatly improved. At first, I literally
knew of nothing, I cam from Taiwan so I was not very familiar with
Canadian history in the first place. However, I do know that I have learned
a lot and also improved.

THIS YEAR:

Having fun and participating in-group projects!

6. What do you need to work on?

Getting my work hand in on time.

7. What could you have done differently to be more successful than you were?

more successful.
