Initials G&M Code-Project Info

To learn G&M code and how it works, we

created code that could cut our initials into a
block of material 3 long, 2 wide, and 1.5 tall.

Initials G&M Code-Sketches and Code Drafts

To organize our code and make sure that everything
was done right, we drew the initials on the paper you
saw above. Then, we put the points on a paper and
wrote the code on a sheet provided by the PLTW
website. Once it was written out on paper and
approved by the teacher, we wrote it on the computer.
We wrote 3 sets of code: Straight Lines/Absolute
Positioning, Straight Lines/Relative Positioning (both
straight line codes use the same sketch), and Curved
Lines/Absolute Positioning

After running the three sets of code in the CNC
Motion simulator, both worked with no issues.
This was probably due to the fact so much
drafting and prep work was done before. Even
if there had been an issue, the plethora of
comments along with the papers would have
made correcting the code quite easy.

Container-Project Info
To work with CAM software and to see a CNC
mill working, each person in the class was to
design their own container, with a base and a
lid.

Creating the container was not an easy
process. When I first designed the top piece, I
did not give enough clearance for the fit
between the two pieces. This led to me having
to remill the top a few times before finally
getting it right.

Robocell-Project Info
Robocell is a computer program used to program
robotic arms for use in a variety of ways. CellSetup is
the program used to set up the cell the robotic arm will
work in, as the name suggests.
To learn how to work with robotic arms and the Robocell
program, we carried out a series of activities the PLTW
course laid out for us in the program and its subsidiary
program, CellSetup.

Robocell-Reflection
After completing the 8 activities (a-h), I feel that
I have a better understanding of the
programming of robotic arms I did before. I
also learned what the work envelope is and
how the different joints of a robotic arm work.

Hydraulic Part Feeder-Project Info

In groups of four, we were tasked to design and
build from VEX components a system that uses
hydraulic power to feed a part through a feeder
to be retrieved.

This project was my least successful of the
year. Our original design just flat out didnt
work, and our redesign took too long to build.
Therefore, we were stuck and unable to
complete the task.
