War is, in its true nature, deceitful.

Numerous sneak attacks happened in World

War 2, defying any and all good morals. War is not usually any country's first choice to
resolve a problem because it causes much devastation. Japan has long since prided
itself for its people of grace, honor, and peace. The United States, a major in player in
World War 2, resisted entering the war because they felt there was no reason for them
to be a part of it. However, Japan was feeling the pressure of the War. The United
States had stopped supply lines to Japan, worsening the relationship between the two
countries. Japan decided their best option to survive was to attack the United States.
Deceptive behavior became Japan's method of choice for the War.
Japan was in a desperate state. They were suffering from the pressure of severe
economic crisis. They were willing to do whatever it took to improve their position in the
War. Invading other countries to take their natural resources was their primary method
of survival. They took over Manchuria in (Pearl Harbor Tours), and declared war on
China. They then expanded control of natural resources by invading the South Pacific.
Lastly, Japan allied itself with Germany and Italy in 1940 when they signed a treaty.
Japan willingly allied itself with others whom were being deceptive.
The United States was becoming increasingly intolerant of Japan's behavior. The
US decided the best way to suppress Japan's ability to continue fighting in the war was
to eliminate most of the raw materials that they sent to Japan (history.com), such as oil
and steel. With the severe restriction on imported raw materials, Japan's economic state
became more critical. They decided their best option for survival was to continue their
takeover of the South Pacific. However, they feared that there was a great likelihood
that the US would interfere with their plans in the South Pacific, of which they wanted to
prevent so that they could continue to get the raw materials they needed from those
countries. Thus, Japan began its plan for a sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii with
the goal of destroying the United States most prized ships in the Pacific Ocean, and
destroying their morale. Japan was being deceitful by creating this plan and carrying it
out.
The US was not concerned by an attack from Japan because they believed that
Japan's military resources were already so far stretched (Pearl Harbor Tours), that they
did not have the means to travel the long distance to any American soil. Fleet
commanders received a warning of a Japanese attack on October 16, 1941 from the
Navy, however, the warning was disregarded because "they did not see an abrupt
change in Japanese foreign policy in the near future" (Pearl Harbor Tours). During the
months leading up to the attack, Japan gave no warning of their plans to attack. Japan
continued negotiations with the US, as if they had no alternate plans. They deceived the
US by not giving them warning. Their surprise attack on Pearl Harbor commenced on
December 7, 1941, as it had been secretly planned.
On that lazy Sunday morning of December 7, 1941, many people were still
sleeping. All of them were completely unaware of what was about to happen. Unaware
of the deaths and devastation that about to change the entirety of World War 2. Many
awoke that morning for the last time to the sounds of gunshots, explosions, and
screaming. On History.com, the disaster is portrayed with appalling statistics,
The barrage lasted just two hours, but it was devastating: The
Japanese managed to destroy nearly 20 American naval vessels,
including eight enormous battleships, and almost 200 airplanes.

More than 2,000 Americans soldiers and sailors died in the attack, and
another 1,000 were wounded.
The next day, December 8, 1941, President Roosevelt and the US Congress declared
war on Japan.
Until the Japanese initiated their attack on Pearl Harbor, the US believed
negotiations about the stoppage of raw materials being sent to the Japanese, what was
being said openly to each other, was the only occurrence happening between the two
countries. The Japanese deceived the US into believing this and they took advantage of
their ignorance.
The US felt utterly shaken to its core. Feelings of grief ripped across the country.
They realized too late the great depth of deception that had forced upon them by the
Japanese. They felt violated and vulnerable. They were struggling to recover from the
devastation the Japanese had caused. They had lost 2,000 people (history.com), ships
and planes had been destroyed, and their morale had been damaged. They argued that
the attack was unjust because they felt they made the right decision to cut off Japans
supplies. From the United State's perspective, they were recovering from Japan's
deceitful attack on Pearl Harbor, while Japan celebrated their victory.
The Japanese were very proud that their attack on Pearl Harbor had been so
glorious. It was a time of celebration and festivities. The men that returned home were
welcomed with honor. The men that died were also blessed with great honor. They
contended that they did what was needed for the survival of their country. They didn't
have the supply lines they needed from the US. They were running out of the necessary
goods to maintain their country and provide for their people. Therefore, they did what
they believed was in their peoples best interest by attempting to keep the US at bay,
away from their invasions in the South Pacific, by attacking Pearl Harbor.
After Japan surrendered on September 2, 1945, when the Japanese looked back
on the day of the attack, and the events leading up to it, they realized they would have
had a better chance of surviving without suffering through and recovering from losing
their supplies from the US, and, later on, the nuclear bomb attacks on Hiroshima and
Nagasaki if they had chosen to not be deceitful. They realized that with the intentions
they had, alongside the events occurring concurrently in Europe, it was to save the
human race that it was ultimately best for the US to go to the extreme measure of
dropping the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The war between Japan and the United States occurred because of deceitful
behavior. Japan paid a heavy price for not being honest, and the United States
responded in the way in which they believed they best protected themselves. However,
as time passed, and both countries recovered from their losses caused by the
deception, they returned to being at peace with one another.
