Q.03: Define in detail Transient stability phenomenon for short circuit fault?
Q.04: Which factors influencing transient stability and also list the methods to improve

Q.05: The ABCD constant of a nominal network representing a three phase transmission line
are
A =D = 0.97/0.6 ,

B = 60/70 , C = 0.001/91 S.

Find the steady-state stability limit if both the sending-end and receiving-end voltages are
held constant at 132kV: (a) with the ABCD constants as given, (b) with the shunt
admittance neglected, and (c) with both the series resistance and shunt admittance
neglected.
Q.06: A synchronous machine is delivering 1.0 pu power to an infinite bus through a doublecircuit transmission line shown in Fig.(a). The direct-axis transient reactance of the
generator is 0.3 pu. The Per Unit reactance for each line is 0.5. all reactances are given to
a base of the machine rating. One of the transmission lines experiences a solid three
phase fault to ground, during which occurrence the system reactances are as shown in
Fig.(b). Determine the critical clearing angle before which the circuit breakers of the
faulted line should operate if the stability is to be determined.
