Os santos dos ltimos dias tm sido ridicularizados

muitas vezes por sua crena na pr-existncia dos
espritos e por casar para o tempo e toda eternidade,
sendo ambas doutrinas bblicas. Somos freqentemente
requisitados a dar nossa viso em relao a estes
princpios, mas considerando que as coisas do Reino
pertencem aos filhos do Reino, no so, portanto, para
d-las queles que no o tm. Mas tendo sido gentilmente requisitado por uma
senhora (membro da Igreja), h alguns dias, para responder as seguintes questes,
no poderamos realmente recusar, quais sejam:
- De onde vim? O que fao aqui? Aonde vou?
- E qual meu destino depois de obedecer a verdade e perseverar at o
fim?
Para seu benefcio e de todos os interessados, vamos tentar responder
brevemente as perguntas como as entendemos. A razo ser evidente para nossa
crena na pr-existncia dos espritos e no casamento para o tempo e toda
eternidade.
Senhora, de onde vens? Tua origem? O que fazes aqui? Aonde vais, e o
qual teu destino? Declare-me se tens entendimento. No sabes que tu s uma
centelha da Divindade, atingida por fogo de Sua chama eterna, e trazida luz do
meio do fogo eterno?
No sabes que nas eternidades passadas, o teu esprito, puro e santo,
habitava no seio do Pai Celestial, em Sua presena, e com a tua me, uma das
rainhas dos cus, rodeado de teus irmos espirituais no mundo espiritual, entre os
Deuses? e o teu esprito contemplava o que l transcorria, e crescias em
inteligncia; Mundos sobre mundos viste organizados e povoados de espritos
aqueles que so teus parentes que tomaram sobre si tabernculos, morreram,
foram ressuscitados, e receberam sua exaltao nos mundos redimidos que outrora
haviam habitado .
Tu pois, estando disposta e ansiosa em imit-los, esperando e desejando
obter um corpo, uma ressurreio e a exaltao tambm, e tendo obtido
permisso, fizeste uma aliana com os teus semelhantes a serem teus anjos da
guarda, enquanto na mortalidade, tambm com dois outros, espritos que homem e
mulher, querias vir a tomar um tabernculo atravs de sua linhagem, e se tornar
sua descendncia. Tambm pudeste escolher um com afinidade que mais amou no
mundo espiritual (e que tinha tambm permisso para vir a este planeta e tomar
um tabernculo), o recebeu como teu cabea para tornar-se teu marido e protetor
na Terra e te exaltar em mundos eternos. Todos estes foram pr-ordenados, bem
com tambm os espritos que atravs de ti receberiam o nascimento de tua
linhagem.
Tu ansiavas, suspirava orava ao teu Pai que est nos cus para

chegar o tempo que tu poderias vir a esta terra, que tinha sado e cada de onde foi
organizada, perto do Planeta Kolobe. Deixando pois, o teu pai e o seio de tua
me celeste e todos os que tiveste como parentela virem para a terra, tomaste teu
tabernculo, e imitaste os atos daqueles que tinham sido exaltados diante de ti.
Finalmente chegou a hora, e tu ouviste a voz de teu Pai, dizendo: Vai, filha
vais a este mundo menor, e tomar sobre ti um tabernculo, e operar teu estgio
probatrio com temor e tremor e conseqente aumento de exaltao. Mas filha,
lembre-se de que voc ir nessa condio, ou seja, voc esquecer todas as coisas
que voc viu, no sabers o que foi conveniado no mundo espiritual, no sabers
ou se lembrars de nada sobre o que viste transcorrer aqui, ters que ir e tornarse um dos mais indefesos de todos os seres que eu criei, enquanto na sua infncia,
sujeito a doena, dor, lgrimas, luto, tristeza e morte.
Mas quando a verdade tocar as cordas de seu corao elas vibraro e,
depois, a tua inteligncia iluminar sua mente, e derramar seu brilho em sua alma
e comears a entender as coisas que voc j sabia, mas que tinha sido apagado
de tua memria, ento compreenders e conhecers o objetivo de sua criao...
Filha, vais, e seja fiel como tu tens sido em teu primeiro estado.
Teu esprito, repleto de alegria e gratido, se alegrou em teu Pai, e rendeu
louvor ao seu santo nome, no mundo dos espritos ressoou hinos de louvor ao Pai
dos espritos. Teu pai e me se despediram e, junto com o teu anjo da guarda,
vieste a este globo terreno. Aos espritos que tinhas escolhido tomar um
tabernculo pela sua linhagem, quele que escolheste como cabea deixando o
mundo dos espritos alguns anos antes, tu vieste como um esprito puro e santo.
Tens obedecido a verdade, e o teus anjos da guarda tem ministrado e
cuidado de ti. Tu escolheste a quem amavas no mundo espiritual para ser o teu
companheiro. Agora, coroas, tronos, dominaes e exaltaes esto em reserva
para ti no mundo eterno, e est aberto o caminho para ti para voltar presena de
teu Pai Celestial, se respeitares a lei celestial, cumprir os desgnios de teu Criador e
perseverares at o fim , e quando na mortalidade fores colocada no sepulcro, voc
poder ir para a sepultura em paz, levantar-se- em glria, receber sua
recompensa eterna na ressurreio dos justos, junto com o teu cabea e marido.
Te ser permitido passar pelos deuses e anjos que guardam os portes, irs avante
e para cima em tua exaltao no mundo celestial entre os deuses, para ser uma
rainha e sacerdotisa diante do trono do Pai Celestial, e sers uma glria para o teu
marido e filhos, para conceber as almas dos homens, para povoar outros mundos
(como concebeste teu tabernculo na mortalidade), e como eternidades vo e
eternidades vm, iro receb-la como Senhora, essa a tua vida eterna.

a mulher, nem a mulher sem o homem, no Senhor.

O homem o cabea da mulher, e a glria do homem a mulher. Portanto, esta
a tua origem, o teu objetivo e teu destino final. Se fores fiel Senhora, bebers a
taa que est a teu alcance, bebers pois, o elixir celestial e vivers.

The Origin and Destiny of Woman

If you ever wondered about the value of a woman, just read these words from
President John Taylor. I hope we finally learn to understand just how important a
womanly woman is.
The Latter-day Saints have often been ridiculed on account of their belief in the
pre-existence of spirits, and for marrying for time and all eternity, both being Bible
doctrines. Being very politely requested by a lady, a few days since, to answer the
following questions, we could not consistently refuse:
Where did I come from? What am I doing here? Whither am I going? And what is
my destiny after having obeyed the truth, if faithful to the end?
For her benefit and all others concerned, we will endeavor to answer the questions
in brief, as we understand them. The reason will be apparent for our belief in the
pre-existence of spirits, and in marrying for time and all eternity.
Lady, whence comest thou? Thine origin? What art thou doing here? Whither art
thou going, and what is thy destiny? Declare unto me if thou hast understanding.
Knowest thou not that thou art a spark of Deity, struck from the fire of His eternal
blaze, and brought forth in the midst of eternal burning?
Knowest thou not that eternities ago thy spirit, pure and holy, dwelt in thy
Heavenly Fathers bosom, and in His presence, and with thy mother, one of the
queens of heaven, surrounded by thy brother and sister spirits in the spirit world,
among the Gods? That as thy spirit beheld the scenes transpiring there, and thou
grewest in intelligence, thou sawest worlds upon worlds organized and peopled
with thy kindred spirits who took upon them tabernacles, died, were resurrected,
and received their exaltation on the redeemed worlds they once dwelt upon. Thou
being willing and anxious to imitate them, waiting and desirous to obtain a body, a
resurrection and exaltation also, and having obtained permission, madest a
covenant with one of thy kindred spirits to be thy guardian angel while in
mortality, also with two others, male and female spirits, that thou wouldst come
and take a tabernacle through their lineage, and become one of their offspring.
You also chose a kindred spirit whom you loved in the spirit world to be your head,
stay, husband and protector on the earth and to exalt you in eternal worlds. All
these were arranged, likewise the spirits that should tabernacle through your
lineage. Leaving thy father and mothers bosom and all thy kindred spirits thou
camest to earth, took a tabernacle, and imitated the deeds of those who had been
exalted before you.
At length the time arrived, and thou heard the voice of thy Father saying, go
daughter to yonder lower world, and take upon thee a tabernacle, and work out thy
probation with fear and trembling and rise to exaltation. But daughter, remember
you go on this condition, that is, you are to forget all things you ever saw, or knew,
to be transacted in the spirit world; you are not to know or remember anything
concerning the same that you have beheld transpire here; but you must go, and
while in your infancy, subject to sickness, pain, tears, mourning, sorrow and death.
But when truth shall touch the cords of your heart they will vibrate; then
intelligence shall illuminate your mind, and shed its luster in your soul, and you
shall begin to understand the things you once knew, but which had gone from you;

you shall then begin to understand and know the object of your creation.
Daughter, go, and be faithful as thou hast been in thy first estate.
Thou bade father, mother and all farewell, and along with thy guardian angel, thou
came on this globe. The spirits thou hadst chosen to come and tabernacle through
their lineage, and your head having left the spirit world some years previous, thou
came a spirit pure and holy. Thou hast obeyed the truth, and thy guardian angel
ministers unto thee and watches over thee. Thou hast chosen him you loved in
the spirit world to be thy companion. Now crowns, thrones, exaltations and
dominions are in reserve for thee in the eternal worlds, and the way is opened for
thee to return back into the presence of thy Heavenly Father, if thou wilt only abide
by and walk in a celestial law, fulfill the designs of thy Creator and hold out to the
end that when mortality is laid in the tomb, you may go down to your grave in
peace, arise in glory, and receive your everlasting reward in the resurrection of the
just, along with thy head and husband. Thou wilt be permitted to pass by the Gods
and angels who guard the gates, and onward, upward to thy exaltation in a
celestial world among the Gods. To be a priestess queen upon thy Heavenly
Fathers throne, and a glory to thy husband and offspring, to bear the souls of men,
to people other worlds while eternity goes and eternity comes; and if you will
receive it, lady, this is eternal life. Hence, thine origin, the object of thy ultimate
destiny. If faithful, lady, the cup is within thy reach; drink then the heavenly
draught and live.
