Plot Review

Film: Divergent
(2014)

The film was inspired by the book that has the same name , Divergent, written by Veronica
Roth. In this story, the teenager girl named Beatrice (Shailene Woodley) has to make a choice:
What factions will she stay in?
In this post-apocalyptic world, when teens turn 16 years old, they have to choose between the
factions Condor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity and Erudite. These factions have their own
ideologies and customs. In this film which is a copy of The Hunger Games, Beatrice discovers
to be a Divergent, she has the profile that fits all factions. This way, it begins an attempt to hold
the viewer, ineficiente, with some fight scenes special effects (CGI) uses.
Using the same script of the stories in the heros journey, the chosen one has to save his world
from the devil Jeanine ( Kate Winslet) , losing all originality .To Build up a weak story, with
weak characteres. Unfortunatly, the direction and the script would not impress anyone beyond
the fans book. However, even with all these problems listed, the film was not a big loss at the
ticket office, with a reasonable result, making plans for the sequel.
If you want to watch a movie full of clichs, you are in the right place.Enjoy.
