Instructions for Creating Your Poster

You will be working in groups of four to complete this assignment. You should have your timelines and
readings accessible in order to complete this project.
1. Each group will pick from one of the primary source documents below. Each of the documents is
related to the policies enacted under Lenin and Stalin and are testaments to the conditions in
the country.
2. Read your primary source carefully and determine what type of propaganda would be best
suited for your source. Whatever you choose, you must be able to describe to the class why you
chose to represent your document that way. Ideas: Instilling fear, portraying the happy worker,
blaming the opposition, etc.
3. Use images, graphics, or other forms of media to create a propaganda poster that accurately
represents your source.
4. Each poster must include a title and a caption, with the proper use of punctuation,
capitalization, and grammar.
5. You may complete a digital or hard-copy version of your poster, but both must be detailed,
accurate, and attractive.
6. Your group must present your poster to the class on the due date.
7. Be sure to have at least a 3 minute presentation prepared that describes to the class why you
created the poster you did and how it relates to your source and Communism in Russia/The
Soviet Union.
