LISSA Social Media Committee Meeting

Agenda
Sunday, October 5, 2014
7 to 8pm, Google Hangout
Meeting Purpose: To facilitate the meeting of the Social Media Committee with the DU GSLIS
student body. To discuss and begin planning for upcoming committee
actions.

2. Introduction of the LISSA Social Media Committee
a. Activities we do, and how many members we have, and limited up to.

3. Briefly discuss LISSAs mission and the Social Media Committees purpose to the
mission
a. LISSAs 3 goals
b. SMCs purpose to fulfill those three goals
c. On track with direction or do we need to make an amendment?

a. Stephan wanted more current-themed committees to carry out
LISSAs goals.
Vice Presidents (Developing the Social Media Committee)
a. Developed the groundwork for the SMC, made the Facebook
recruitment flyer, and was named Chairman of the SMC.

Current agreements with the Vice President and the GSLIS office
a. Vice President is required to check for content and proofreading.
b. I typically use Library Journal, Teleread, LISNews, Hack Library
School, and AL Live.
c. The content guidelines are: LISSA Social events, ALA Events
(AL Live, etc.), Blogs Written by board members and by
volunteer students, Scholarships, Internships, Winners of the
board election, Any relevant library school/libraries in general
that would be of interest, Recruit members for LISSA
(volunteer bloggers, etc.), Butler Childrens Center events.
d. GSLIS office offers proofing as well and contracted with VP to do
so on every Wednesday, typically by noon.
e. Ben typically used Hootsuite to make the FB posts, mainly for the
built-in mini-URL, but Bit.ly or Tiny URL works just as good.
f. Read the content of each article or video and came up with a
catchy yet meaningful title link to the source content.
Selecting rotation process among members
a. Up until this meeting, the news activity on FB were done by me
and doing 5-6 posts every week that took up to 90-120 minutes to
read for relevance to other students.
b. We can assign a weekly rotation, where one person does 5-6 posts,
or we split the amount of posts, and everybody does 1-2 posts per
week.
Facebook Insights (Brief look at target audience demographics)
Enabling Editor Rights to Zoe and Justin on the FB group page (John
already has Rights to the group page)
a. Can do now or later in the week

Current agreements with the Vice President and the GSLIS office
a. Again, VP is required to review for content and proofing
b. Contracted with the GSLIS office to automatically send out any
one flyer to both Email Blast and TV Wall.
c. But, the TV Wall uses PPT, so the flyer has to be in landscape
format. If two or more flyers are sent out in a given week, LISSA
VP has to specify which has the higher priority in a schedule, as
the office can only email blast/TV Wall one flyer per week.

b. Communication Basically through group email. I require the news post
drafts sent to me by Wednesday morning by 11am, every week if possible.
My role besides holding meetings and other administrative duties is to assign
which post matches with another post on what day.
5. Schedule next meeting (At least two are required per semester)
a. Nov. 2nd? 7pm on Google Hangout?

-AnnouncementsThe next LISSA board meeting will be held on October 12th from 2 to 3pm in the Butler
Childrens Literature Center, on the second floor of the Crown Library.
In the meantime, please familiarize yourselves with the LISSA bylaws (including Article IV,
Sections 4 & 5 and Article VI, Section 2) and the website (http://dulissa.com)
