to

the

the

In
the
name
of
the

of
the

and
of
the
Holy
Spirit.
Amen.
Two
students
will
light
the
Advent
candles.
Student
2:
Advent
is
the
season
of
waiting
and
hope.
In
our
classroom
community,
we
wait
for
the
birthday
of
Jesus
and
recall
how
the
world
waited
for
the
saviour.
We
wait
for
him
to
be
born
again
in
our
hearts,
our
classrooms,
our
homes,
our
parish
community,
and
in
the
whole
world.
Let
us
begin
this
celebration
of
joyful
waiting
by
singing
Watch
out!
Wake
up!
Gathering
Hymn:
Students

all

Opening
Prayer:
Student
3:
This
Advent
season
we
repent,
we
wait,
and
we
prepare
to
celebrate
Christs
coming
in
history,
in
our
lives
today,
and
at
the
end
of
time.
May
God
be
with
us
as
we
celebrate
the
season
with
joy!
Let
us
pray
together
our
opening
prayer.
All:
God
of
Love,
Your
son,
Jesus,
is
your
greatest
gift
to
us.
He
is
a
sign
of
your
love.
Help
us
walk
in
that
love
during
the
weeks
of
Advent,
As
we
wait
and
prepare
for
his
coming.
We
pray
in
the
name
of
Jesus,
our
Savior.
Amen.

A
reading
from
the
book
of
Mark
1:1-9
1
The
beginning
of
the
good
news
about
Jesus
the
Messiah,[a]
the
Son
of
God,[b]
2
as
it
is
written
in
Isaiah
the
prophet:
I
will
send
my
messenger
ahead
of
you,
who
will
prepare
your
way
Listen
(Liturgy
of
the
Word)
3
a
voice
of
one
calling
in
the
wilderness,
Prepare
the
way
for
the
Lord,
make
straight
paths
for
him.
4
And
so
John
the
Baptist
appeared
in
the
wilderness,
preaching
a
baptism
of
repentance
for
the
forgiveness
of
sins.
5
The
whole
Judean
countryside
and
all
the
people
of
Jerusalem
went
out
to
him.
Confessing
their
sins,
they
were
baptized
by
him
in
the
Jordan
River.
6
John
wore
clothing
made
of
camels
hair,
with
a
leather
belt
around
his
waist,
and
he
ate
locusts
and
wild
honey.
7
And
this
was
his
message:
After
me
comes
the
one
more
powerful
than
I,
the
straps
of
whose
sandals
I
am
not
worthy
to
stoop
down
and
untie.
8
I
baptize
you
with
water,
but
he
will
baptize
you
with
the
Holy
Spirit.
This
is
the
word
of
the
Lord.
All:
Praise
to
you
Lord
Jesus
Christ
Prayer/Reflection/Action:
Three
students
will
carry
baskets
with
the
wreathes
created
by
the
students.
While
the
wreathes
are
being
laid
beneath
the
altar;
student
6
will
begin
to
speak.
Student
5:
We
have
each
created
our
own
wreathes.
These
symbolise
the
undying
love
between
God
and
ourselves.
The
Advent
wreath
is
green,
the
colour
of
new
life
and
hope.
Green
reminds
us
of
the
newborn
Jesus,
who
came
to
show
us
the
way
to
everlasting
life.
Student
6:
Lets
now
take
a
minute
of
silence
to
reflect
on
the
Advent
season,
the
birth
of
Christ
and
how
we
can
incorporate
lessons
learnt
during
this
season
into
our
daily
lives.
Pause
Student
7:
Come,
Lord
Jesus,
come
into
our
hearts.
It
will
soon
be
time
to
celebrate
your
birthday,
and
we
want
to
be
ready.
We
want
to
walk
in
your
light.
All:
Come,
Lord
Jesus,
come.
Light
of
the
world,
guide
us.
Student
8:
Lord
we
must
know
that
to
walk
in
your
light
we
must
respect
others.
We
must
help
those
in
need.
By
loving
others,
we
show
our
love
for
you.
All:
Come,
Lord
Jesus.
We
will
walk
in
the
light
of
our
Lord.
May
the
peace
of
your
coming
warm
our
hearts.
May
others
see
through
our
actions.
Amen
Student
9:
Lead
Hail
Mary
Please
stand
and
join
in
saying
the
Hail
Mary
Hail
Mary
full
of
Grace,
the
Lord
is
with
thee.
Blessed
are
thou
among
women
and
blessed
is
the
fruit
of
thy
womb
Jesus.
Holy
Mary
Mother
of
God,
pray
for
us
sinners
now
and
at
the
hour
of
our
death
Amen.
Dismissal:
Student
10:
Lord,
God,
you
show
us
the
tenderness
of
your
love
in
Marys
newborn
Son.
Like
Mary,
may
we
always
be
ready
to
say
yes
to
your
plan,
so
that
Jesus
may
be
born
in
us.
We
ask
you
to
prepare
our
hearts
to
welcome
him,
so
that
like
the
angels
who
announced
his
birth,
we
too
might
greet
his
coming
with
joy.
We
ask
you
this
through
Christ
our
Lord.
Amen.
Concluding
