INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND
The plan should guide the LEAs use of education technology for the next three
years.

Effective Dates: 8/3/2015 to 7/31/2018


Local Education Agency: Harmony Science Academy- El Paso (071806) has 4 different
campuses. Each campus offers different grade level education between K-12th grade.
Harmony Science Academy-El Paso School district has its central office at El Paso,

Brief information about the district: Harmony Science Academy- El Paso is Public
Charter School district under Harmony Public Schools. District has 2967 students as of
July 19th, 2015 and more than 275 employees. Harmony Science Academy District
Administration and all schools leaders share same values with Harmony Public Schools.
Our Motto is Life Ready, College Ready, and Career Ready. Our schools are classified
as college prep schools. Our curriculum and extra-curricular activities design to reach
school goals. All of our 4 schools are Title-I Schools with the free/ reduced rate of 75%.
District technology plan covers the school years between 2015-2016 and 2017-2018.

With the help of this plan, the school district will try to use the district budget more
efficiently and goal target base.

Describe how a variety of stakeholders from within the LEA and the communityat-large participated in the planning process.
District Information Officer was assigned the head of District Technology Committee. The
committee was created and did survey to figure the needs of each campus out.
Committee includes Assistant Principals form each campus (In charge of Academics and
Finance), IT Managers from each campus and Cluster Instruction Coaches from each
disciplines. Committee meet will twice in a semester to set plans up and follow up the
plans.

Summarize the relevant research and describe how it supports the plan's
curricular and professional development goals.
Summarize the plans major curricular and professional development
outcomes that are supported by research.
After the research, importance of the technology in instruction is revealed. It
shows that district should set up academic foundation for its technology based
purchases to support instruction.
Describe and cite the relevant research that supports the plans outcomes.

our plan has different lesson plan implementation form that district.

CURRICULUM COMPONENT CRITERIA.
The Plan must establish clear goals and realistic strategy for using

telecommunications and information technology to improve education services.

Describe teachers' current access to instructional technology and current use of


digital tools.
Harmony Science Academy-El Paso District schools grant certain access to their
teachers to use technology in instruction process. Laptop, its accessories are
provided with school provided fast internet, and projector (with document
camera) access. In addition to these equipment, teachers have access to
Chromebook like students and online curriculum websites with the full
subscription. Recently district made agreements with local internet provider for
Gigabit internet.

Describe students' current access to instructional technology and current use of


digital tools. Include a description about the LEA policy, practices, and/or
replacement policy that ensures equitable technology access for all students.
With the help of the RTT grant, Middle and High schools students has full access
to Chromebook with high speed internet. Students can use Online Curricular
website like ALEKS, Study Island, or Compass. KG-5 th students have access to
school computer labs. They have accounts at StudyIsland, MeasureUp, and
Reasoning Mind. District has very strict policy, and students are not allowed to
use these resources for non-academic purposes like social media, texting.
Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for using
technology to improve teaching and learning. Describe how these goals align to
the LEA's curricular goals that are supported by other plans. Describe how the
LEA's budget (LCAP) supports these goals, and whether future funding
proposals or partnerships may be needed for successful implementation.
Last year, Harmony Public School Central Office curriculum department updated
the curriculum and make it tech friendly. Compatibility problems solved for IPad
and Chromebook users. Curriculum became online. It included client side
programs before, but all changed and not it is server side programs. So we just
need to login curriculum websites and run thru browsers. During Cluster
Development days, training was provided.
Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, to address
Internet Safety and the appropriate and ethical use of technology in the
classroom.

School internet and technology infrastructure monitored by campus IT team. Also


school was hired professionals to conduct penetration test las semester. Also
Time Warner (Internet Provider) provides security services besides local firewall
and antivirus programs. Servers and Internet services divided for teacher and
student usage purposes.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT
The Plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff
understands how to use these new technologies to improve education services

Summary of the teachers' and administrators' current technology proficiency and


integration skills and needs for professional development.
District Academic Coordinator and District Information Officer conduct a survey at
the end of 2014-2015 school year. They plan new year training and district
development days. Per their survey results, training is needed on Microsoft Office
Product, YouTube Video Uploading, Video editing software, Screen casting and
other Google Docs Services. Basic tech training will be provided also.
Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for providing
professional development opportunities based on your LEA needs assessment
data and the Curriculum Component of the plan.
Professional development about effective technology implementation for school
leaders daily tasks is also arranged. In addition to this, another training
opportunities will be created for the school leaders to help teachers more
effectively as role model. They will be participating in those trainings at least two
times a year.

INFRASTRUCTURE, HARDWARE, TECHNICAL SUPPORT, SOFTWARE, AND


ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPONENT CRITERIA
The Plan must include an assessment of the telecommunication services,
hardware, software, asset management, and other services that will be needed to

improve education services.

Describe the existing hardware, Internet access, electronic learning resources,


technical support, and asset management already in the LEA that will be used to
support the Curriculum and Professional Development Components of the plan.
Harmony Science Academy El Paso District Schools have many resource
currently which are:
Students Computer Labs equipped with Intel 5 Processors and 4GB Ram
Teacher Laptops equipped with Intel 3 or Intel 5 Processors and 4 or 8 GB
Ram
Tablet PCs or Tablets (Android based or IPAD) for GT, ESL, and SpEd
services
Chromebooks for Middle and High School Students
Fast Internet (920 Mbps)
Smart Boards
Mimio Systems
Fast Copier Services
All of these devices monitored by school IT Team. All required training will be
provided during staff development days by campus or district personnel.

Describe the technology hardware, electronic learning resources, networking and


telecommunications infrastructure, physical plant modifications, technical
support, and asset management needed by the LEA's teachers, students, and
administrators to support the activities in the Curriculum and Professional
Development components of the plan.
In addition to District Information officers, all campuses inside the district has
their own IT Team under the supervision of Campus IT managers. They taking
immediate action for any maintenance needs. Also Campuses has alternative
internet access like Hotspots provided by Verizon Telecommunication Systems.
Campuses has also ticket systems for administrators to oversee the maintenance
requests.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION COMPONENT
The plan must include an evaluation process that enables the school to monitor
progress toward the specific goals and make mid-course corrections in response
to new developments and opportunities as they arise.

Describe the process for evaluating the plan's overall progress and impact on
teaching and learning.

In addition to District Technology Committee, Superintendent and principals also


oversee the plan and evaluate its implementation. District Information Officer
assigned to create different surveys for each step of the plan.

Describe the schedule for evaluating the effect of plan implementation, including
a description of the process and frequency of communicating evaluation results
to tech plan stakeholders.
District technology committee will meet beginning of the school year to review,
add, or modify some part of the plan and submit it to superintendent for approval.
This committee works with Campus Improvement Plan Committees also.
