Air is supplied to a double-acting cylinder at a pressure of 4 N/mm2. The diameter of the

piston is 50 mm. Calculate the force produced as the piston out strokes.

A double-acting cylinder has a piston with a diameter of 20 mm. The piston rod is 2.5
mm in diameter. Pressure is supplied to the system at 4 N/mm2. Calculate the force
produced by the cylinder as it outstrokes and instrokes.

A container of washers is to be dipped in and out of the cleaning bath. The "START" and
STOP" for this continuous movement is to be achieved by actuating a pushbutton each.
On actuating the stop pushbutton the container should stop at the top. Based on Figure
1, sketch a complete pneumatic circuit diagram to attain the required function. [10 marks]

7. A hydraulic double acting cylinder is used to raise and lower scissor-tong table. It must be
possible to hold the table at any desired position for long periods. Based on Figure 2,
sketch a complete hydraulic circuit diagram to attain the required function.
