PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT
It is the goal of the Victorville Youth Soccer League to promote safety, respect and good fun among all
participants in league activities. In support of these goals, as a parent involved in the Victorville
Youth Soccer League, I agree:

To remember children participate in VYSL to have fun and that the game is for them, not the adults. I
will not force my child to play, but will praise my child for competing fairly, trying hard and showing
respect for others regardless of who wins or loses.

To learn the policies of the league and the rules of the game. I will abide by these policies and teach
my child to follow the rules as well.

To respect others including the players, coaches, league officials and referees. I will ensure that my
actions and those of my guests are a positive example to the children involved in the league. I will
require my child to show respect for others and demonstrate good sportsmanship.

To acknowledge the authority of the referee on the field regardless of his/her age, race or gender. I
understand that the referee sees the action from a different perspective than that of a sideline
spectator, they are trained to look for specific situations on the field and that right or wrong and their
calls will not be reversed. I will not verbally challenge a referee before, during or after a game.

To support coaches in their effort to help my child develop as a player, teammate and good sport. I
will communicate appropriately with my coach about my childs condition (physical / emotional) in a
manner that will not undermine the coachs authority. I will reinforce my coachs good counsel to my
child and I will participate as a good spectator supporting my childs team.

To contribute to the success of the Victorville Youth Soccer League so that my child and future
generations of children will be able to enjoy the game of soccer through a well organized recreational
program. I will participate in fundraising activities and volunteer to serve as my schedule allows.

To demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, alcohol, tobacco and profanity.
I (and my guests) will not engage in any of these activities while attending practices, games and other
league activities.

To be accountable for my own actions and those of my guests. I will therefore voluntarily exit the
field at any time that I find myself unable to abide by these guidelines, to escort my guests from the
field should they be out of compliance with these rules or to leave when asked to do so by a league
official.

To have fun! I will celebrate with my child and his/her team when they experience success and focus
on positive accomplishments.

I also agree that if I fail to follow these parent conduct guidelines, I may be subject to disciplinary action
which may include game suspensions for myself and my child, game forfeiture for my childs team or
dismissal from the league. I understand that the league does not want to enforce any of these options,
but will do so to ensure a positive atmosphere for all players.
