For ACSR Rail, the FR Stock-bridge damper series is recommended to control the
Aeolian vibration of cable.
2. Damper Selection Method
The vibration damper, i.e. its mechanical properties (impedance), must fit for the
conductor or optical fiber aerial cable. If not, either the damper can cause damages at its
clamp on the conductor or aerial cable, or the damper itself can be destroyed. The type
of Anti-Vibration Dampers (FR series) is Stock-Bridge. The damper selection is based on
the conductor size, which determines its vibration frequency range, including
characteristic impedance Z
Z= (T' x M)1/2
Where:
T: Everyday Tension of cable (KN)
M: Mass per unit length (kg/km)

For the main data of the damper, please refer to the attachment drawing.
ACSR Rail with D = 29.61 mm, M = 1603.5 kg/km, RTS=116.07kN,
when T = EDS = 22% RTS:
Z1= (T x M) 1/2= (22.0% RTS x M)1/2 = (0.22x116.07x 1603.5) 1/2 =202.35300.
