When developing your CMP ask yourself these two questions: (1) Does my CMP reward positive
behaviors? (2) Does my CMP change negative behavior or punish it?
3.
4.
When developing your CMP, please include the documented steps you will take for Category 1-Classroom
Managed Behaviors prior to referring the student to the AP Office.
Level 1--when student in not meeting the behavior expectations: Minor to moderate misbehavior
can result in the teacher utilizing one or more of the following options at his/her discretion:
Warning, Seat Change, Teacher/Student Conference and/or Reflective Assignment.
Level 2continued minor to moderate misbehavior: Teacher will contact the parent/guardian and
utilize one or more of the following options at his/her discretion: Reflective Assignment and/or,
Counselor referral, Teacher Assigned After School Detention (document in IC).
Level 3 ongoing misbehavior with no successful change in misbehavior: Teacher will contact
the parent/guardian. Teacher will refer student to administration for one or more of the following
options on the discipline matrix. Example include: Friday Night School, L.O.P., Social Probation
and/or ISI (document in IC).
Level 4repeated level 2-4 misbehavior the Administrator will enforce one or more of the
following from the discipline matrix: Out-of-School Suspension, Form 16A and/or Expulsion
(document in IC).
Severe misbehavior (Category 2-Office Managed Behaviors) will result in the student being sent
directly to administration.
5.
Please refrain from sending any student to the AP Office until you have executed your CMP for Category 1Classroom Managed Behaviors (see list below). The obvious exception to this rule is if the child becomes
such a disruptive force in class that his/her removal is necessary for the educational process to continue.
When it becomes necessary to take action against a misbehaving student remember that the 1st story home
usually wins. When you remove a child you should always call and talk to a parents before the end of the
day.

ASD (After School Detention)-when assigning an ASD please ensure that you give the parent/guardian a 24
hour cushion so that they can arrange for transportation for their child. At the bare minimum, please insure
that you send the ASD Form home with the student. We prefer you call or email the parent since these are
more effective communication tools. ASD will operate Monday thru Friday and are supervised by the ISI
Monitor. Please communicate with Jana Belden (extension 8111) about availability before assigning a date
for the ASD.
Reminder: teachers should always have direct supervision of all students under their domain. Sending
students unsupervised out into the hallway puts you in a legally vulnerable and liable position.
Please note that teachers are not to send students directly to the ISI Room, students can only be sent by an
administrative team member.
