A Couple

of Things
to Note

Grading & Such


1. Regarding Grading: I do not grade when I am in
a bad mood. I feel that gives you an unfair
advantage. The result is that sometimes it will
take a little while longer to get assignments back.
2. I grade you based on your peers initially. This
way I can gauge the class. Then, as I get an idea of
where you are at and what you are capable of, I
grade accordingly and challenge you individually.
Regarding feedback: I give you feedback for a
reason. I also remember the feedback that I give.
Pay heed to it. I will grade more harshly in those
areas the next time around.

Summer Reading
Journals
Still in the progress of grading
Worth 65 points (10 pts. for six entries;
5 points for completing the assignment)
I take your best six entries
2 point deductions per entry that does
not meet a minimum of five sentences
4 point deduction variability for lack of
specificity or textual support in an entry
10% off (6.5 points) per late day (up to
Friday)

No Cellphone Policy
1. If I see it, I take it. No more warnings.
2. There are no excuses why your phone should
be out. People lived thousands of years without
cellphones. You can survive for one class hour.
3. I think high school is hard enough as it is to
have an overbearing teacher. However, if you
cannot handle the freedom and responsibility
that that freedom entails, I will transform into
that dreaded teacher that no one likes. Do not let
your behavior be a catalyst for that
transformation. Nobody wins when that happens.

Why Lit. Movements?


1. Provides foundational
knowledge.
2. College will be easier if you
learn it now.
3. Speeches are icebreakers.
4. Enhances the skill set of
fluent, cohesive, non-intensive
articulation of learned
knowledge.
5. Element of team work &

The Chaos Called This


Week
1. This week is chaotic, because of
the iPad deployment and preparation
necessary for that.
2. I do NOT want you to get the
wrong idea. This class will not always
be so unorganized. I like structure
and this week is not a good example.
I apologize. Lets get through the
iPad jazz, wrap up the literary
movements, and move forward.
