1. Prepare an outline and discuss with your merit badge counselor
what a family is and how the actions of one member can affect the other members. A family is a group of people who are emotionally attached to each other and relay on each other for guidance and support. When one family member is going through a emotional stage it effects others in the family because they care. 2. List 10 reasons why you are important to your family. Review these points with your parents or guardians and with your merit badge counselor. 1. my family loves me 2. i help out at home 3. thoughtful to others 4. think of other's feelings 5. good ideas 6. diplomatic 7. fix computers at home 8. Listen 9. Tends to cats 10. Follow Family Rules 3. Prepare a list of your regular home duties or chores (at least five) and do them for 90 days. Keep a record of how often you do each of them. 1. Make Bed 2. Clean Room 3. Clean Computer Area 4. Tend to Lucky 5. Set Table 4. With the approval of your parents / guardians and your merit badge counselor, decide on and carry out a project that you would do around the house that would benefit the family. Submit a report to your merit badge counselor outlining how the project benefited the family.
5. Plan and carry out a project that involves the participation of
your family. After carrying out the project, discuss the following with your merit badge counselor: A. The objective or goal of the project Rearrange, reorganize clean, and install new carpet in the basement so that it looks better and is more accessible. B. How individual members of your family participated We all moved furniture, moved the carpet, swept the floor, cleaned the furniture, then installed the new carpet and but the furniture back. C. The results of the project Our basement are now looks better, functions better, and is much more organized. Do the following: A. Discuss with your merit badge counselor how to plan and carry out a family council. B. After this discussion, plan and carry out a family council to include the following subjects: 1.
