Difference between ANM and GNM Nursing & job opportunities in each field

I am a student of 10+2 looking forward to making a career in Nursing. I have considered B.Sc in Nursing but I
am confused if I should rather go for ANM or GNM Nursing. Please tell me the difference between these
courses. What are the job opportunities in each of these fields?
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Nursing is an under graduate course of 4 years duration which focuses on the study of
basic fundamentals of nursing whereas Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (Nursing) is a diploma course of 1 year duration
which focuses on the study of health care of various individuals. A General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a
diploma course of 3 and half year duration includes assessment of various needs of the people from their birth to
death. They can put into effect their knowledge gained from the humanities, biological and behavioural sciences in
their nursing career.
Even though the service areas are same for a B.Sc Nursing graduate and students with ANM (Nursing) or GNM
qualification, their work profiles and pay offered will be different. A graduate with B.Sc in Nursing will definitely be
offered a better package than an aspirant with a diploma degree of ANM or GNM. More institutes offer the graduate
degree as compared to the diploma degree in Nursing. There are better advanced study options for a graduate as
compared to a diploma degree holder.
B.Sc in nursing graduates can seek employment in Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Educational Institutes, Private Clinics,
and related Health Departments. They can work as Staff Nurse, Community Health Nurse, Nursing Advisor, Trainer,
and Nursing Supervisor.
ANM (Nursing) aspirants can work at Hospitals, Educational Institutes, and Medical Care Units as Home Care Nurse,
Nursing tutor, ICU Nurse, Health Care Nurse, and Infection Control Nurse.
GNM aspirants can work at Hospitals, Private clinics, Schools, Private offices, Training institutes, and Rehabilitation
centers.
