Course Description
Students develop computer literacy skills to adapt to emerging technologies used in the global
marketplace. Students implement personal and interpersonal skills to prepare for a rapidly
evolving workplace environment. Students enhance reading, writing, computing,
communication, and reasoning skills and apply them to the information technology environment.
Principles of Information Technology I and II
The two courses are separate and different, but as lab policies and procedures will be the same,
this syllabus will apply to both classes.
Course Curriculum
The curriculum for this course is the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills Career and Technical
Education (CTE)Information Technology.
Mr. Goebels Rules
Students must memorize and follow three rules while in Mr. Goebels
classroom
Rule One- Do not speak when Mr. Goebel is speaking
Rule Two- Be cool
Discipline
All school policies will be followed and enforced in this class. Policies
regarding tallies, tardiness, dress code, and all other areas covered in the
Student/Parent Handbook are included.
Grading Policy
Quizzes/tests will count as 50% of the students six weeks grade.
(Anything may be worth a test grade if need be)
Daily grades including class participation, reports, projects,
assignments, presentations, and warm up activities are 50%
Alternate Assignments- Students who wish to continue working on
something after it was due or something that they wish to work more
on, may request to do so as an alternate assignment. Alternate
assignments must be approved by Mr. Goebel before students may
begin.
Weekly Grades
The mission of Mesquite Independent Schools is to educate all students and empower them to
expand their opportunities.

Warm Up CompletionConference Participation- Students will conference with Mr. Goebel at least
once a week.
Blog- Students must complete a blog post every week.

Projects
Participation
Students are expected to stay on task during class.
Make-up Work
Students, who miss class for any reason, including school related activities,
will be responsible for getting make-up work.
Tardy Policy
Students are tardy if not in their seat (1) with supplies out (2) and working
(3) [on the warm up] before the tardy bell rings.
Cleanliness
It is each students responsibility to keep the lab clean. They are expected to
throw away their own trash and take all their belongings when leaving class.
Eating or drinking in the classroom without permission will result in
disciplinary action.
