On a 9 x 12 sheet of black paper create a landscape design :

3 elements for the for the foreground
Such as water or ground (think of grass or a pebble bare ground)

2 elements for the midground

Hills or a lake in the near distance
3 elements for the background
Mountains and sky
1st step On newsprint paper sketch out 2-3 designs
Choose best elements from the sketches

2nd step Take a 9 x 12 black paper and draw out your designs
3rd step Draw patterns in shapes you have created
4th step Color
