Q: Skills for Success, Level 3, Reading and Writing. Gramer and Ward, 2011. Oxford University Press.
Description:
This course is intended for students who will be living and working in a global community. The four main
language skills, reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English are essential skills for many
experiences, both professional and recreational. The main objective of this course is to build academic
English skills in order to successfully communicate in academic writing and oral interaction. Students will
use educational language-learning materials to build language accuracy that is required in discussion,
presentation, and writing. Communicative and task-based activities are designed to develop all four areas
of language as listed above. We will have many discussions about various topics and current events, in
order to develop critical thinking skills.
Goals: This course will help students to:
-build academic English skills, such as discussion, presentation, and writing for academic purposes.
-improve communicative English skills in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
-develop critical thinking skills through discussion and presentation
-increase awareness and understanding of general, social, and global issues.
-develop skills that will enable responsibility for further learning.
