Course Description:
This is a full year honors course. The aim of this
course is to help students develop an understanding of
business financial systems. Students learn how financial
records are set-up, how transactions are recorded, and how
financial reports are developed for sole proprietorships and
partnerships. Class time is dominated by learning
accounting procedures and applying these to accounting
situations. Students will use accounting records such as
journals, ledgers, worksheets, and financial statements.
Students will also learn automated accounting techniques
and systems. This course meets requirements for senior
math. This is an articulated class: see instructor for details.
Course Alignment:
This course is aligned with Michigan Department of
Education, Business Administration, and Finance Segments.
Articulation:

Articulated college credit may be available from accredited

community- and 4-year universities.

Cross Curricular Support:

Students in this course will be expected to use prior
knowledge and grow in their mathematics skills. This class
qualifies as a senior math requirement and supports the
mathematic curriculum.
Homework/Makeup work:
After school lab time will be required if students fall behind
schedule. An instructor will be present at all scheduled
after school labs. Also a majority of the material is
available online.

Student Evaluation Criteria & Grading Standards:

The students grade is based on 80% is test and
simulations and 20% on homework. It is the students
responsibility to keep track of their work, if they feel there
is a mistake regarding a grade; they will need the proof for
a grade change. All discussions about grades should be
done before or after class. Students have the ability to
retake test after school during open lab times.
All assignments, projects, quizzes, and the final exam are
required.
Grading Standards:
1st Semester
Final Exam 20%

80%
A=100-90%, B=89-80%,
C=79-70%, D=69-60%,
E=59% or lower.
