Murphy's Math Class Expectations and Rules:

Effort matters in this class. Come prepared. Come to learn. Do
your best.
Respect everyone in our learning community. Support each
other with a positive attitude.
Communication is important. Come see me if you need help.
Be prepared every day. This means bring a pencil, your binder
to keep your work in, AND write down your homework
assignments.

Homework:
Homework is important for practicing and reinforcing skills.
Homework is also an opportunity to demonstrate independent
understanding.
Please show your written work on all homework problems. Do
NOT just give me an answer. I will be checking the homework.
You will get credit for demonstrating that you have tried to solve
the problems. You will not lose credit for getting problems
wrong, only for not doing the work at all.
Homework must be done in PENCIL.
Circle your answer so I can find it.
Homework is due at the beginning of class.
Please put homework in the bin for your class.
If you try every problem you get 100 (even if it is wrong).
If homework is incomplete or problems are missing, you get a
50.
If you do not turn in the homework, you get a 0.
Late homework is only accepted if you were absent (see
absence policy below).
Tests and Quizzes:
Quizzes/ Tests will typically be given at unit checkpoints. You
must show your work and/or explain your thinking for each
problem in order to gain full credit.
Partial credit will be given. You get more credit for showing your
work even if the final answer is wrong. The right answer with no

work will not get full credit.

You can make corrections on all the problems where you have
lost credit.
You will have one week to turn in your test corrections with
your original test and your parent/guardians signature.
You must show your work or explain your thinking with all
corrections.
You will get half the points you lost added onto to your original
grade.
Correcting your mistakes gives you an opportunity to learn how
to solve the problems and increases your grade.
If you still dont understand the problems come for extra help
or ask a friend.

Wednesdays 2:15-3:30 pm
Or by appointment
Please bring a signed note to say you have transportation
home
Absences:
If you are absent from school, you are RESPONSIBLE to make
up your homework and tests/quizzes
Pick up the class work you missed as soon as you return
Homework that was due the day you were out is due the same
day you return
Homework that was assigned while you were out is due the day
after you return
If you miss a test or a quiz you must make it up within in the
same week you return. Please come see me to set up a time.
