Justice AND Mercy!
 Maybe you’re here and you’re a Christian,
John 8:1-11
Jesus is radically committed to righteousness AND
wholly compassionate towards sinners.
The Woman
She is guilty of sin.
She is publically disgraced.
She is a disposable piece in the plot of her accusers.
She awaits her condemnation, possibly death.
She represents you and me!
The Savior
He has been put to a test: Justice or Mercy?
He refuses to be handcuffed by the test but turns the table
on the accusers.
He loves this woman by neither condemning her nor
condoning her sin.
Justice AND Mercy: How can this be?
The dilemma is solved at the cross! (Romans 3:25-26)
Good News!
Jesus is radically committed to righteousness AND wholly
compassionate towards sinners.
o Do you relate to the woman?
 Maybe you’re here and have never received
Christ as your personal Savior: you need to
trust in Jesus who died in your place to pay
for your sins and rose again so that you can
be forgiven of your sin, made right with
God, and have assurance of eternal life in
heaven?
but Satan stands accusing you of your sin,
demanding justice: that you die in your sin.
You are burdened down by the weight of
guilt and shame. Stand in the truth that yes
God demands justice too but if Christ is
your Lord, justice was executed on Calvary’s
Cross when Jesus died, your sin has been
paid for once and for all. In Christ, there is
now no condemnation! You are forgiven!
You are free! You are a child of God! And
nothing can separate you from the Love of
God!
o Do you relate to the accusers?
 You spend more energy letting the world
know what you are against than what you
are for. I want our world to know that we
are for Jesus and we are for sinners finding
hope and forgiveness in Him. Too often we
are known for what we are against: Ask
Jesus to renew your mind so that you have
