BLADE STEEL FACTS
Steel is an alloy of iron, carbon and emall portions of other elements. Stainless Steel is a generic term for
a family or corrosion resistant alloy steels containing 10.5% or more chromium. It should be remembered
that “stainless” does not mean that stainless will not stain or corrode but rather it “stains less” than alloys
that do not include chromium.
In addition to chromium, other elements such 2s nickel, melybdenum, vanadium, etc. may be added in
varing quantities to produce a range of stainless grades, each with different properties. A careful selection.
of the most appropriate stainless steel grade is vital to success in any cutting application.
All CRKT blades are either stamped or fine blanked of High Carbon Chromium Stainless Steel. The blade
steel for each series is chosen for the required manufacturing and finishing methods and the performance:
requirements of the design.
Mirage Gray Ghost and M16 models use AUSS blade steel, while Apache, Seahawk and S-2 models use
ATS34. All other madels in the complete CRKT product offering use AUSEM biade steel.
