Chemistry and Biochemical Engineering with a focus on
pharmaceutical sciences. This field has interested me since I was very young for a variety of reasons. I believe that Chemistry provides the framework and toolset to find solutions to problems in the world and chemical engineering provides the mindset to apply chemistry to aid in fixing these problems. A large amount of human peace of mind can be attributed to the meteoric rise of pharmaceutical medical care in our society. In the past, peoples suffering would go noticed, but unalleviated due to the lack of proper treatment available. As we, as a species, have progressed in time our understanding of these pharmacological compounds has vastly improved our standard of living and allowed people who previously suffered from both chronic and acute conditions the ability to opt back into their previous, uninhibited lives. I would like nothing more than to be a part of this industry and to apply all that I have learned in order to help facilitate the process of understanding and helping those in need. As my knowledge of these processes of development in the pharmaceutical world has increased, I have increasingly seen the need to be able to scale up. I have also seen the interdisciplinary nature of the industry, and hope to apply a wide array of skills from chemistry to computer programming, to process design and beyond to create a better world for others. This can be achieved through an understanding and application of the life sciences, and I see no better path than exploring the life
sciences for understanding and answers to help fix or ease
