Section Four: Differentiating Instruction through Technology

(Remember only this essay part of the assignment will be included in the Topic 07 Benchmark)
Introduction (4-6 sentences)
Technology is used in every part of our lives, this is no different than the use of
technology in the classroom. Multiple areas of technology have been introduced in the
classroom over the years: computers, projectors, and tablets just to name a few. These forms of
technology allow for student to gain a critical incite to the world in which they are going to be a
part of when their academic career is complete. Using technology to express what is being
learned or taught will allow for a further understanding to both the student and there audience.
These added features can help meet certain requirements for educational studies while also
keeping the kids engaged with the learning process. Allowing these forms of technology to help

the students understand what the teacher is asking will also help for overall growth. The use of
production, news outlets and also the web can be useful in further gaining the knowledge that
needs to be meet.
Technology to Differentiate Instruction (300-400 words)
Name of Technology Tool: Webcasts can draw in a viewer that is not looking for hours of
information but wants to listen to listen to a certain topic. The computer allows for such a tool to
be used. It gives the students a plate form to deliver their message to different kinds of people
with a verity of interest on the topic at hand. The impact this type of knowledge of use has on a
student is ever lasting.
ISTE Standards The ISTE standard for students is stated that students demonstrate creative
thinking, constructive knowledge ( ISTE, 2015)
Name of Technology Tool: Projection screens give the student a full screen to see what is
needed for each assignment to be completed is. This also allows for a teacher to address all areas
that might be of some concern to some of the students. Students can take better notes with the
ability to discern what information the teacher displays is most useful to them (Whitaker,2015)
Projection screens give the student more time on the project since the teacher can more
effectively move through information that needs to be given for students to fully understand. The
form of delivery the information is also important since on a projector visual aid can be added
along with vocal description of what needs to be done. Interactive whiteboard also give the
students a chance to become the teacher when projections of an assignment in on the screen for
all to see and the student needs to fill in the blanks or even perform the assignment in class.
ISTE Standards Interactive whiteboards are among some of the leaders in the educational
growth of our kids Judging from recent news reports, it is likely that a portion of the new

federal education stimulus funding will be invested in interactive whiteboards. (NEA Member
Benefits, 2015) Per the ISTE standards this form of instructions could fall under the Critical
thinking, problem solving, and decision making process (ISTE, 2015)
Name of Technology Tool: Blogs or media messaging can be brought in for conversations that
are done after school has ended. This form of communication can also help students determine
answers to questions that cannot wait until the following day of class. Teachers can layout
guidelines for multiple assignments and be able to answer questions quicker than normal. Blogs
can help students create a more solid foundation for their grammar skills while also expressing
more information to whoever is reading.
ISTE Standards This tool will allow for a classroom to fully understand what is being
discussed while also talking over other areas that might need to be addressed. This goes with the
ISTE Standards of Communication and Collaboration.
Pros and Cons (150-250 words)
If not done in a manner that would allow for the understanding on what to fully do with
the information than technology for differentiate instructions would be more of a hindrance than
a positive. Since technology is in every part of the lives that we live in the need for
understanding the process though education is important. Not everyone is going to take to using
differentiate instruction but the pros for long term success are higher while trying to teacher to
multiple educational learners in one classroom.
Concluding Paragraph (4-6 sentences)
Understanding the classroom of your students is the goal for all teachers, but that takes
time. Knowing that only in time will you be able to reach a classroom full of young adults is the
key to a successful teaching career. Just because it says 5th grade on the door does not mean that

all students in the class are at a 5th grade level, this is where using different techniques and
programs will allow for a student to be successful in your classroom. Sometimes the most
uncomfortable you might feel will give a student a better understanding of a topic, like never
using an interactive whiteboard before and introducing it to your class to find that the material is
understood better using this form of learning. The needs for the students in the class need to be
met and it is our job as teachers or future teachers to make that possible.
