1. Teacher wears Maasai color necklace when students enter the room
2. Today we are going to make this kind of necklace around my neck by using paper
plates, markers, pencil, string, scissors, hole punch, etc.
3. The Maasai tribe, which is the tribe we just watched a youtube video on, wear these
types of necklaces usually when they get married except they are real and a lot bigger
and heavier.
4. First take the paper plate and draw 6 halves. Label what color goes where then color
those colors in the correct place with marker. Once dried cut the smaller circle in the
paper plate. Make a cute design on the border of the plate. Cut the smaller circle you
cut out of the plate and make it a square. Then staple it to the paper plate. Hole punch
the square you just stapled to the plate and attach strings to add a creative touch.
5. Check to make sure the students are following each direction as you check for
understanding after they complete the first step.
6. Do the first step with all eyes on you and then let the students copy what you do so
everyone knows what to do and nobody gets too far ahead.
7. After showing students what the first step is, let them do it themselves. So show them
how to color each half and what color should be in it then let them do it. Walk around the
room to make sure they get what to do and that the students are doing it right.
8. As the class wraps up as a student what we did today and what we learned. Today in
art class we made paper plate necklaces that the Maasai tribe wears.
