We broke out into groups and the task changed. You were asked whether the same
criteria would be suitable for judging a place to Immigrate to. Your response as a
class was a resounding NO! So, within your groups, you came up with your own
criteria for judgement. Slowly, groups merged together until the whole class was in
agreement on these 5 ranked criteria:
Medical Care
SafetyLow Disease, Crime Rate, Natural Disasters
Rights & Freedoms
Low Pollution (Fresh Air/Clean Water)
Stable Economy/Access to Jobs
Population
Crime Rate
Seasons
System of Government
Unemployment Rate
Common Illness/Disease
Your group must use their Criteria for Judgement, to decide which of the two locations would make
the best choice for your group to immigrate to. You will create a presentation that includes all of the
researched information and if the Criteria for Judgement is used correctly, the rest of the class should
come to the same conclusion.
Success Criteria:
Individual Assessment
Each group member will be responsible for handing in a one-page response to the following question:
How might the elements of a specific environment impact or influence my choice to either live, visit or
leave there?
