2nd Field Experience Activity/Time

I thoroughly enjoyed having the students on hand to assist me in assessing the strengths
and weaknesses of this project. Thus as a facilitator of technology and leadership, I must
be aware that the students are my end customer and thus, must be included in at least a
portion of the planning phase. When students are included and consulted, they help us as
leaders see how to better serve them and their needs.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you
know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes,
beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology
leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the language
of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge,
skills, and dispositions.)
As a leader I must be aware of modeling appropriate digital citizenship while promoting
the effective use of technology in the classroom. Thankfully, working with the students
in this field experience provided me with the opportunity to see how to present the
necessary information to adults who would be interested or needing to reach students of
the same demographic. That which we present must be relevant and technology alone
will not bring that relevance.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement,
faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the
impact be assessed?
Since I was able to work directly with student learning, I found that my observations
were more closely tied to the development of rigorous yet relevant curriculum. This will
prove useful for my school as rigorous yet relevant curriculum is not always included in
technology-based assignments. Thus, I must bear in mind that curriculum centering
around technology must be easy-to-use but not so easy that the students are not being
stretched cognitively nor with regard to their technological literacy.
