Goal(s)/
Objective(s)
What are the
specific learning
goal(s) for
student in this
lesson?

LEARNING GOALS
-Students will learn how to properly catch a football.
-Students will learn how to explain when to catch the ball with their thumbs facing up, and
when to catch the ball with their thumbs facing down.
-Students will work together running and throwing to different routes.
OBJECTIVES
Psychomotor The students will learn how to properly catch a football thrown
from a peer while running different routes by the end of the class with 80%
accuracy. The proper form when catching a football is to have your hands away from
your body and making a diamond with the two. Track the ball as it comes to you and
try to catch the ball out in front of you and not with your body. The students will
also learn how to run a hook, a slant, and a fly. A hoot is when you run 10 yards
down the field, turn and come back to the ball. A slant is when you run 5-10 yards
downfield, plant and turn towards the middle of the field at a 45 degree angle. A fly
is when you sprint down the field in a straight line looking to go deep.
Cognitive The students will be able to explain and demonstrate how to properly
catch a football, and how to run the hook, slant, and fly routes. The proper form

you would want to use these different routes, and how to make them most effective
as it deals with running precise routes and the importance of the plant foot.
Affective The students will actively stay on task and participate throughout the
lesson. They will show respect for themselves, their teacher, their peers, and the equipment.
During the activities they will make sure they watch out for the things happening around
them, and not run out or throw a ball within the path of another group. The will also will
show good sportsmanship and get everyone involved.

Safety
Statement

Assessment of
Learning
Describe your
formative and
summative
assessments you
will use.
Learning
Environment/
Behavior
Expectations
What procedures
will you use to
ensure students
are safe, on task
and engaged?
What might
happen that you
might not
expect?

I will ensure the safety of all my students. As they walk into my classroom, I will ensure
that they are walking into a safe and welcoming environment. Sportsmanship will be talked
about and followed through with. I will also check over the gym or grass outside to ensure
that there is nothing harmful around the students. Finally, I will stress not running out or
throwing a football in the path of another group. I will make sure each group has proper
space and that the groups are spread out to ensure safety.
Exit slip where they draw out the three routes and explain how to run a good route.

Expectations: I will check the gym and area outside before and after
class to make sure everything is safe. As the students walk into class I
will ensure they are walking into a positive environment that encourages
learning. I will go over how to handle the equipment and safety
procedures before the activities and make sure procedures are followed
through with. If groups are not spread out enough or something is
happening that I did not expect and is unsafe, I will stop the class and fix
the issue.
I will also expect my students to follow class rules, participate, and work
to improve every day.

Demonstration #3: Zone passing- Make four zones, and place scarfs on the far end
line. With partners, one student will be the WR and one will be the QB. The WR will
communicate the route to the QB before he goes out. The QB will try to hit the WR
in stride so he catches the football and can go down to get a scarf. They will alternate
rules. After while I will take two groups out and allow them to have noodles so they
can try to defend. The others will be doing the same things as before.
