The document describes two glucose tolerance tests used to screen for gestational diabetes. The glucose challenge test involves giving a pregnant woman 50g of oral glucose and checking her blood sugar after 1 hour, with levels over 130 mg/dl indicating a positive result. The glucose tolerance test involves fasting blood sugar, a 100g glucose drink, and blood sugar checks at 1, 2, and 3 hours, with defined normal levels for each time point.

Performed between 24-28 weeks of gestation. Patient is administered 50 gm oral glucose in an
unprepared state and her blood sugar estimated one
hour after ingestion of glucose. Test is positive if whole blood sugar is more than 130 mg/dl and plasma glucose blood value is 140 mg%
GLUCOSE CHALLANGE TEST
Fasting blood sugar is taken 100 gm glucose solution is given ( WHO 75 gm) Then assessment is done at 1 ,2,3 hour interval
Normal value Fasting blood sugar level less thhan 105 mg/dl At 1 hour:less than 190 mg/dl At 2 hour: less than 165 mg/dl At 3 hours: less than 145 mg/dl
