People all learn in different ways, so

we need to do our best as teachers and
students to acknowledge that! Knowledge is
contrasted uniquely and individually, in
several ways. In Ms. Freeburnes class, for
example, we made our own survey and
found out that most of us like to learn
kinesthetically! In other words, we like to
learn by having things acted out first.

Using estimation like a pro!

By Michael Moore

In Ms. Freeburnes class, we

recently used estimation in a math unit.
Estimation, is when you make a rough
guess of what an exact measurement or
number might be. She had us go around
the class room and measure different
things. We measured doors and desks.
Then, some of us had to guess chips on
a table, beans in a jar, and add two
numbers with three digits by estimation.

The News Wave

I want to vote!
By Regina renold
We went to Ms. Richards class and saw
that they were talking about having an election.
I found this really cool, so I asked them what it
took to make one. Heres the list they gave me!

Creating a ballot

Registering students as voters

Obtaining voter information

Making voting booths

Holding elections

Receiving an I Voted! sticker

I want YOU to take a chance and

vote!

I thought that it would be cool if

our class or even the whole school did
one too! If we all worked together that
list wouldnt be too hard to make.
Then, when were older, wed have a
good idea of what its like to vote in an
election! If you think this is a good
idea, be sure to write about it on our
comment notepad!

Building a Database
By Ms. Freeburne

A collection of information that has

been organized into fields and records is
called a database. An example of a
database that many of us use on a daily
basis is the phonebook (printed
database) or Google (electronic
database). Database software is a
system that allows us to store
information, keep it organized and
search.
Databases can be used in the
classroom for many different purposes. A
collection of the registered students who
voted would be a great way to use
database software. We could enter the
first and last names of voters, their
grade and teachers name. Then we
could search the query by entering a

Many other subjects can be included with certain
subjects if you know how to use them! Ms.
Freeburne showed us the rings in tree roots and
explained not only the growth of a tree, but also
the history taking place in specific some rings. If
you dont know what you can use for another
