DISCOVER

This phase is where you think, research and discover ideas about the
possibilities for the project.

Look backwards in time and see how the problem developed. How has this problem been
solved in the real world? What are other contemporary solutions?
You must have a body of research BEFORE you will be allowed to progress.
This body of research must be IN YOUR OWN WORDS and have references.
Use this chart to help gather information, solve a problem, or think through a research topic.
Fill in this chart with notes, calculations and ideas, rather than complete sentences. Use this
sheet to help you think through your problem.
1. What is your topic or problem?
2. What do you hope to prove or discover about it? What is your goal?

Each row should be used for a specific topic or key concept from your DEFINE phase. Your
teacher is an excellent source of information so dont forget to ask them if there is a key word or
concept that you cant find information about!
