Areas of Interest:
My areas of academic interest include methods for
teaching
idioms,
Phonology,
Educational
Technology, tools for accent reduction and music.
Southerners seem particularly verbose in the use of
idioms. Many of those familiar to me are from my
Memphis born mother, whose repartee was made
colorful by their frequent use. For the Masters
degree scholarly paper, I chose to conduct a
research study comparing methods of instruction
for teaching idioms. A link to that paper is located
in the Education section below.

Presentations:
On May 14, 2014, I was privileged to present
Shooting Marbles in the Dark: Comprehending
Idiomatic Expressions through Etymology at the
International Conference on Teaching English in
English at the Alcide De Gasperi University of
Euroregional Economy in Warsaw, Poland.
Results of the research study completed at CNU
were presented along with an application to
teaching business idioms. The PowerPoint for
that presentation can be viewed under
Coursework tab: TESL 600 Research in TESL at

An excellent Practicum
experience. Great insights!
