Instructional Input

I will connect to past learning by explaining settings, characters, etc in past or popular readings/movies.
I will post the objective on the board.
Not only in reading but understanding the theme in all stories (movies and tv shows) is important to understand
what is going on and get the most out of it!

How will you model/explain/demonstrate all
knowledge/skills required of the objective?
What types of visuals will you use?
How will you address misunderstandings or common
student errors?
How will you check for understanding?
How will you explain and model behavioral
expectations?
Is there enough detail in this section so that another
person could teach it?
I will hold a discussion where I define and describe the key terms.
I will provide a power point.

Student Will:
What will students be doing to actively capture and process
the new material?
How will students be engaged?

The students will take notes on the content.

Answer the questions.
Be involved in the discussion.

Co-Teaching Strategy
One teach, one observe.

Guided Practice

Differentiation Strategy
I will provide a printed powerpoint with key notes for students with an IEP
Ask the gifted students the questions first.

Teacher Will:
How will you ensure that all students have multiple
opportunities to practice new content and skills?
What types of questions can you ask students as you
are observing them practice?
How/when will you check for understanding?
How will you provide guidance to all students as they
practice?
How will you explain and model behavioral
expectations?
Is there enough detail in this section so that another
person could facilitate this practice?

I will read a very short story (about a paragraph) that

the students can actively listen to determine the key
ideas of the story.

Student Will:
How will students practice all knowledge/skills required of the
objective, with your support, such that they continue to
internalize the sub-objectives?
How will students be engaged?
How will you elicit student-to-student interaction?
How are students practicing in ways that align to independent
practice?

where was the story set, what was the story about? Any
key themes?

Co-Teaching Strategy

Differentiation Strategy
I will provide the students who have an IEP a printed version of the story so they can read along if needed.

How will you plan to coach and correct during this
practice?

extension?

required by the objective?
How will students be engaged?
How are students are practicing in ways that align to assessment?
How are students using self-assessment to guide their own
learning?
How are you supporting students giving feedback to one another?

I will give the students clear instructions how to make

a book jacket and the expectations.
I will post the directions on the board

The students will create a book jacket.

Draw a cover and on the back write a short summary of
the book including the characters, plot, setting, etc.
Whatever they do not finish they will have to finish at
home

Co-Teaching Strategy
One Teach, One Assist. There will be a main teacher who teaches the lesson and the co-teacher will help the students with any
questions during the activity.
Differentiation Strategy
I do not anticipate any students will need any assistance, but if the students in special education ned assistance the co-teacher will
provide it if needed.

Closing/Student Reflection/Real-life connections:

They will list the main character/setting/theme of their favorite movie. This will pique their interest because theyre applying what they just
learned to something they previously liked.

Turn to someone sitting next to you and explain what you have learned today and how this will benefit you in
future reading comprehension.
