Problem 1
A gas well is producing gas at a rate of 1 MMSCF/day with the following composition:

The average reservoir pressure and temperature are 2000 psia and 140F, respectively. Calculate
the following parameters (consider both ideal and real gas behaviour for parts C, D, and E):
A) Specific gravity,
B) Flow rate in lb/day,
C) Gas density at reservoir conditions,
D) Isothermal compressibility of the gas,
E) Gas formation volume factor in ft3/SCF,
Use:
= + . .
= + .

Problem 2

Experiments performed at 160 on a bottom-hole sample of a reservoir liquid resulted in the

following data for solution gas-oil ratio as a function of pressure. The original pressure and
temperature of the reservoir were 3600 psia and 160 .

(a) Was the reservoir initially undersaturated? Explain?

(b) Does the reservoir have an initial gas cap?
(c) Suppose 1000 SCF of gas had accumulated with each stock tank barrel of oil in this
reservoir. Estimate how much gas would have been in solution at 3000 psia.
(d) Would the reservoir then be called saturated or undersaturated?

Evaluate (SCF/STB), (bbl/STB), and (bbl/STB) at the stated pressures. The gas
deviation factors at 195 , 1000 psia and 500 psia have been evaluated as 0.91 and 0.95,
respectively. Show at least one sample calculation for all the quantities that need to be
calculated. 1 = 5.615 3
