In practic, the circuit consists of a small LED mounted in some accossibla place, having part of tha cathode terminal exposed (see Figure at right) so that > tapping the small LED with ane finger, you came inta contact with the cathade ‘e terminal: this action will tum the LED cn, The LED will stay lit for about two seconds and then shut aff. Meanwhile, the [C counter will advance one position and this is repeated every time you touched LEDL with a finger, Circuit operation: Qi and Q2 form a comoiementary monostable having a time delay of sbout 2 seconds. Its Sensitivity is so high that it can be triggered simply by touching the Cathade wire of the LED Di by a finger. The monastable output, present at Q2 Collectar, clacks the Decade counter 1Ci which, in tum, crives one at a time the LEDs D3 through 07, In tha circuit diagram § LEDs are shown, but ince the IC has ten outputs, any number of LEDs up to 9 can be used. The 0 output (pin #3 of IC1) should hava no LED connected, to signal that no counting accurred. The counter is raset at pin #15 py C2 and RB. This will accur every time you rastart the circuit through SW1. Notes: © Di should be mounted close to the rest of the circuit to avoid false triggering signals pick-up. © The stand-by current drawing of this circuit is negligible
