Learning Plan
Introduction

Activating Prior Knowledge:
To activite prior
knowledge the teacher
will ask the students

presidents? The
teacher will then call
upon one student to
try and name as many
as they can.
Hook/Lead-In/Anticipatory
Set:
The students will then
watch a President
Song, this video is
from YouTube and is a
great interactive video
that allows for
students to hear all the
Presidents and check if
they knew all of them.

Groups/ Partners
The students will be
grouped by the
teacher. They will be
in Partners for this
lesson.
Depending on class
size, the teacher will
group the partners
based upon ability, for
example low-high or
high-low students will
be together.
Responsibilites of Partners:
The pairs will have the
responsibilty of
researching the
President that they
choose out of random.
They will have to stay
on task and take
responsibilty of their
pair. Each person will
have the task of

determining what to
write on the Fun Fact
sheet and coming to a
consensus with their
partner.
Room Arrangment:
The room/ desks will be
arranged so the
students can see each
other eye to eye. They
will be sitting next to
each other so they can
visually see one
another and what their
partner is finding
online.

Lesson Procedure

Pre-Assessment of Students
The students will be
Pre-Assessed during
the opening of the
lesson, they will be
asked who can name
the most Presidents.
STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE
The teacher will ask, "Who
can name the most
Presidents of the
United States?
The teacher will then tell
the students to listen
carefully to a YouTube
video, the video names
all 50 presidents and
also shows a picture of
the President.
The teacher will then pair
the students together
based upon ability.
The teacher will come
around and have the
pairs pick randomly
out of a hat or pull
sticks out of a cup, to
decide what President
they are to research.
As one person from the
pair is picking the
President, the other is
to retrieve the Fun Fact
(Who Was) Worksheet
for both students in
the pair.
Once everyone has their
President and their
worksheet, the teacher

will write on the board


the two websites that
will give them the
information they need
to find.

The teacher should review
with the students that
they are to be on these
websites or
informational websites
only or they will lose
the right to be on the
internet.
The pairs will have around
8-10 minutes,
depending, to fill out
the Fun Fact sheet.
Once the Fun Fact sheet is
filled out, one person
from each pair will
share with the class,
who their President
was and one fact they
found interesting.
The students will be
directed to close their
computers and return
to their original seats.
Once all students are
seated, the teacher
will explain that they
are to write one
paragraph individually
about their President,
using the Fun Fact
sheet. The teacher will
also provide a
Paragraph Rubric that
has basic
requirements.
Students will have the
remainder of the

period to work on the


paragraph, if not
completed in class, it is
homework and it will
be collected as an
individual
asssessment.
