Introduction

Note to the Parents: The purpose of this WebQuest

is to help students understand the diversity of
languages in the world. In conjunction with
WebQuests that highlight Spanish, English, French,
Chinese, Hindi, Arabic, and Portuguese, we hope
students gain an appreciation for languages, and
expand their knowledge. Statistically we see that
students who learn languages young have an
advantage in academics and cognitive flexibility, and
benefit professionally from knowing multiple
languages. These WebQuests fulfill the Colorado
Department of Educations Standards for
Communication in Languages Other Than English
(Standard I).
