So starting with Android--on Android, we

have Google Play services, which is an
extension of the Google Play platform
on Android for you tointegrate with
Google services.With that, we've
embedded all the logic you need to
handleauth so that you don't have to
worry about it.For you as a developer,
all you need is to integrate theclient
library, and we will deal with the auth
from there. And the good news about
Google Play services API is that
it'savailable from Android 2.2 and up.So
that for you as a developer, you can
haveconfidence that this API is going to
be there in aconsistent manner, no
matter what version of Android theuser
is using.

The good news is, we are not the only ones

pushing the platform forward. All browser
vendors, modern browsers, are investing in
HTML5. So if you take a look at 2008, this
was just under way. Chrome had launched.
People were beginning to add HTML5 APIs.
We spoke about it in I/O. And if you forward to
now, the progress is amazing. All modern
browsers have these APIs implemented, so
that you as developers can rely on these APIs
when you write applications and make sure
you can deliver a consistent experienceSundar Pichai

I love it when something very complex

turns out to be created with simple
ingredients. We've created this world [in

which we then position in 3D space using
CSS. You can see how the elements

The average checkout process is about

So it's no surprise that the abandonment
rate of shopping carts on mobile phones
is around 97%.
We can do much better than this. So by
building on the existing HTML5 auto
complete spec,
we've built something in Chrome, both
on desktop and in mobile, that collects
all of your payment information when
you enter it anywhere, syncs it across all
of your devices. So now when you come
to check out on a website, you press
check out, you see this form. Chrome
already knows all of your payment
information. It shows it to you in a form.
You can look at it and you say, yep,
that's what I want. And you click Submit
and you're done. So this is going to
make shopping from your phone much,

And so what we did was we have built up a

platform with the browser as really the core
construct. And more concretely, actually
using WebKit
as the core rendering engine in WebOS. So
all of the core applications that are built as a
part of WebOS--mail, contacts, and calendar- are all built in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
as applications on-- in this environment. So if
you look at a little more details of what one of
these applications really look like,
you can see that we have an HTML page that
defines a layout of the application, we have
JavaScript that-- which can define transitions,
animations, access storage on the device,
and we might use CSS to style the
applications. -Michael Abbott

U.S. developers can bank on these APIs

being present in the browsers when users
reach your applications. Another important
trend is mobile.
All of you are carrying a smart phone here
today. The interesting thing there is, the
smart phones all are connected with capable
browsers.
This is looking at search traffic, the mobile
search traffic that hits Google. And if you look
at the proportion that comes from HTML5capable browsers, it's far outpacing
the other browsers as well. So HTML5 is
everywhere. So the question is, how do we
make use of it? (another quote) We think
video, being a first-class citizen will join the
other content types we have
and we will have very rich Web pages in
HTML and CSS 3. My prediction is if we use
these techniques right we can get rid of half
of the images
for the Web, because they are mostly there
for styling purposes, but by adding all this
video stuff, there are still going to be lots of
images out there.
So to the Web community, I'd like to say start
using this. We need to go out with our video
cameras. We all have video cameras in our
pockets, and we should do it

before you finish your query. so literally,

with three or four keystrokes, we are able

So last fall we announced app indexing. As a

developer, this capability lets you get your users to
app content directly from the search results page.
Since then, we've been working on a ton of UI
improvements and extending some APIs to make this
more powerful. if your app requires your users to sign
in, you'll be able to use Google+ sign-in in the coming
months to have your public content show up in search
as well. You know, we thought this would be
even better if we could help your users rediscover
content that they've already found in your apps.

Every time I click a search result, the system

How can we make the Web faster? How can

we make Web apps as discoverable as
you see, for example, in app stores? How
can we make it easier for developers to
monetize those applications? And, finally,
can we make the Web extend its reach even
to new form factors?

With Android TV, we decided to build a core search

functionality, directly into the experience, powered by
