You are the Citizen

NATURE OF TASK:
Research a political party or a pressure group that interests you from
the list below and complete the following questions.
Browse their website and find the information that will enable you to answer the following questions.
You will then submit your responses in a creative way, by email, to Mr. Hall.

HOW TO GO ABOUT IT:


Class time will be allocated to enable you to investigate the different ranges of pressure groups.
Most have a website and you may wish to browse through the site to obtain information that will
assist you in responding to the response questions.
With the information obtained you are expected to answer the following:
1. When did the organisation commence?
2. How well do you think the party or pressure group is known?
3. Is the organisation a state-based organisation or is its area of concern more
widespread?
4. Who are some of its leaders and members?
5. What does the organisation believe in? (its rationale)
6. How successful has the pressure group been in influencing government? Provide
some examples of its actions.
7. How active has the members of the pressure group been in the past five years?
8. Explain how this pressure group has participated in government.
9. Are there significant achievements that the organisation has accomplished?
10. Does the pressure group release any published material to keep members informed of
activities?

11. Was the website and published material inviting to read for any interested person, or
was it very difficult to interpret?
12. How does someone obtain membership of the organisation and what is the cost?

WHAT YOU ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT FOR ASSESSMENT:


You are required to submit the following for assessment:
o A written response that contains the information related to your chosen pressure group. Think
creatively, so PowerPoint would be a worthwhile presentation tool to use.
o A list of references (a bibliography) that mentions the websites that you have used in your
investigation.
