Within the high school special education classroom there are five students.

Two students are visual learners, two students are auditory learners, and one
student is a tactile learner. As the teacher for this classroom many different factors
and techniques, for the whole class and for individual students, went into having a
successful learning environment. The factors and techniques were established
based on students learning style and their stimuli for environmental, emotional,
sociological, physiological, and psychological elements.
Environmental elements stimuli relates to how each students feels
comfortable to learn in the classroom. For the visual learns blue colored sheets were
placed on bright fluorescent lights; helps reduce light induce headache and
promotes calmness to eyes. Students who are visual learners have seating
arrangements closest to the smart board. For students who are auditory learners
the students were taught different levels of sound. The levels go from 0(no
talking/sound) to 5(free for all sound). When students hear teacher say a level of
sound students will participate in the appropriate sound level. This helps promote
quiet learning time in order for students who are auditory do not miss information.
We will also ask students who are auditory learners to repeat the directions back in
order to have confirmation that the student has heard the information correctly. For
tactile learner we have multiple fidgets (toys/items) to touch and learn within arms
reach in order to promote tactile learning. Students also receive a daily choice of
activities to choose from that revolve around the lesson. Two of those activities are
always tactile in order for this particular student to receive this style of learning.
Emotional elements in the classroom have also been placed for each
students style of learning. A Positive Behavior support plan has been made for each
student. The students, all three types of learners, respond to motivation as the

stimuli for environmental elements. With the Positive Behavior support plan when
students meet goals prizes will be given as the motivation to meet those goals.
Sociological elements in the classroom have also been placed for each
students style of learning but are incorporated all together. To promote acceptance
and team work, students work in a variety of groups. The groups do not have two of
the same student who share a type of learning style. Each student brings a different
learning style to the group. This allows for different perspectives to take place.
