HerearethreebonesImgonnadescribeaboutbecausetheyseemveryinteresting.The
firstoneistheradiusbonewhichisrelatedtoagreektermmeaningthespokesofawheel
andarod.Latinwordradiusmeansaray.Thenamecamefromtheshapeofthebone
becauseitlookedlikearodbone.ThewasalsointroducedbyCelsus.Thesecondboneis
thetibiabonewhichisalatinwordmeaningshinbone,pipe,andflute.Thebonetibiacould
alsobeaformoftubiawhichisfromtubaorpipe.Thelowerleghas2bonesthetibiaand
fibula.Tibiathelargerbonethatsupportsmostofupperbodyweight.Itisimportantboneor
thekneejointandanklejoints.Thethirdoneisthesacrumwhichcomesfromlatinmeaning
ofsacredorholy.Anotherthingyoushouldknowisthatthesacrumisthelastboneto
decayafterdeath.Thesacrumisthemostimportantboneofthespine.Thesacrumboneis
asolidboneattheendofthespinecolumnthatsupportupperbodyweight.Thebone

bendtoendatallbecauseit'saregularbone.Wheneverthebonewasputintothevinegar
thebonebecamesoftbendableandflexible.Theboneisbuiltupofmostlycollagenand
anotherthingthattakepartinthebonealotisprotein.Anotherthingtheboneconatusis
calciumphosphateandcalciumcarbonate.Thecalciuminthebonestrengthensthebone.
Whentheboneisremodelingtheosteoclastsdigestintooldbonematrix.Thenthe

bonescantellyouisthepersonsweight,age,height,sex,race,occupationandstature.
Thereareabout206bonesinanadultskeleton.Thiscasehappenedinthewinterstarving
timeof16061610,whentheyhadsaidthatonly60virginiasettlerssurvivedoutofthe

womenbackinthe17centuryenglishfemales.Someoftheboneshadthirdmolarsand
theunionofthegrowthplate.Thiswomenisoneofthefewwhodidnotsurvivethethe
colonystarvingtimeinthewinterof16061610.Theyfoundcutsinthetibiafragment.They
alsofound4shallowchopsontheforeheadandtheyfoundfinecutsandpuncturemarkson
thesideandbottomofthemandible.Thebackoftheheadhadforcefulchopsontheback
oftheheadfromasmallhatchet.Theforensicsofthebonehelpdeterminewhathad
happentoherover400yearsago.Theywereabletomakeafacialreconstructionofthe
faceaftertheyscannedthebones.
