Teachers are being given classes with more than 30 students. How are they supposed to connect with
each of those students and meet each student's needs? When students act out it is because they are
bored or disengaged. Smaller class sizes may help a student with behavior issues by having that
one-on-one time with a teacher.

Students need to feel safe in the classroom and on campus. Teachers should be able to feel safe as
well. The rules and norms that are in place are there for a reason. Students need to understand that
the school policies are to keep students safe. Schools should be considered a safe place and when
something bad happens, it can negatively affect how the student views the school and may change
their behavior while at school.

Teachers should teach their students that what they learn in school CAN apply to the outside world.
Due dates, projects, homework, etc. are all things that happen in the real world. Once you are out of
school, you are on your own. Students need to be held responsible for their actions and accept the
consequences as well. In the work force, you HAVE to make the deadlines, you have to work on
projects and may have to take it home to make sure its complete in time. If students do not care about
the content, they can at least take away the basic skills they need for their future (in any field).

This statement has always frustrated me because personally, if there was a way that I was expected to
act (negative), I would do my best to be the exception of that expectation. I understand that not
everyone thinks the way I do, but why would a student want to sink to the level that teachers think they
are on, especially if its the lowest level? Teachers need to set expectations for their students, but they
should also make sure they are realistic as well. Also, if a student does not want to be in the class, they
do not want to be there. Unfortunately, nothing anyone does or says can change that.

As a student in a teacher preparation program, I have experienced the rollercoaster of emotions that
come with becoming a teacher. There are so many parts of teaching that I absoluetly despise, which
make me not want to teach, and then there are a few things that actually make me want to teach.
Overall however, I am terrified to have my own classroom. What educators are supposed to provide for
their students, is being limited by politics and economics.

This situation is applied to the world outside of school. No matter how many drug dealers, murders, sex
offenders, thiefs, etc. are caught and put away, new ones will always emerge.

Not allowing students into school because they are tardy is ridiculous. Students may not have control
over what time they get to school or how they get there. Students may not want to be at school yet they
still show up. Not letting them go to class gives them another reason to not want to be at school,
espeically if they might be late.
