*External Regulation:
In the UK the governing ministry is the department of education. External Governing bodies are
typically responsible for:
*Distribution and maintenance of funds
* Compliance with laws and statutes
*Quality assurance of institutions and education
*advisory and consulting needs
*European level of organizations that also contribute to implementing collaboration and
co-operation between European nations
External Guidance
*University boards that have delegated responsibilities
Managerial Self-Governance
*Executive Head of the Higher Education Institution: In the United Kingdom it is
the Vice-Chancellor
*Decision making body: Council, They often make decision on whom to vote as
Vice-Chancellor and also hold power in many university related decision making
processes.
*Advisory board: Court for pre-1992 Universities
Academic Self-Governance
*Academic Board or Senate: Handle matters mostly related to education and
research
