Learning Intention:

We are learning different

ways of recording and
displaying data

Tally Chart/Frequency Table

Data can be organized in a tally chart or

frequency table. What is the difference?

Stem & Leaf Plot

A plot where
each data
value is split
into a "leaf"
(usually the
last digit)
and a "stem"
(the other
digits)
For example
49" would
be split into
4" (stem)

The "stem"
values are listed
down, and the
"leaf" values are
listed next to
them.
This way the
"stem" groups
the scores and
each "leaf"
indicates a
score within that
group.

that change over time

Circle Graph

Circle Graphs display

data that are parts of a

Bar Graph

A bar graph displays data that can be

counted. Two sets of data can be
displayed on a double bar graph which
could show a comparison based on
things like gender.

Scatter Plot

A scatter plot displays two related

sets of data that are measured or
counted

Which type of graph is most appropriate

for the type of information in question?
