The purpose of school

To transfer knowledge and prepare students to live in a global society (Carter,


To inspire a passion to learn and to discover their world
To teach to children to engage in healthy relationship with others
To challenge young people to become leaders and responsible citizens

The role/image of the teacher

I believe a teachers model what it means to be a professional educator


I believe teacher should desire to see every student meet their fullest potential
I believe a teacher is a guide that naturally ushers students into the learning

potential
I believe student should possess love, respect, and a hunger for learning

The role/image of the student

I believe students are unique and bright in their own rights


I believe student come to the class with needs learning, nurture, safety, sharing,

and affirmation.
I believe students are teachers in their own right and have something to teach

daily
I believe every student has gifts, talents, and abilities that need to be fostered.

The role/image of the parent/family

I believe the family should partner with the school and teachers
I believe the family should serve as an advocate for the child
I believe the family should engage in the education of child

The purpose of the curriculum

To engage students in a fun and exciting process of learning


To help the teacher be intentional about what the students are learning
To encourage students to continuously build on the knowledge they are learning

The nature of pedagogy

I believe ones teaching method should be diverse and authentic


I believe ones teaching method should be stimulating and challenging
I believe ones teaching method should be inspiring and thought provoking

The preferred school environment

I believe the school environment should be safe community of learners


I believe the school environment should foster a commitment to be family
I believe the school environment should be world class and relevant to the world
